Default Who needs a Quick jack?

Eventually we'll build a shop, and will have a lift, but for now, this will serve the purpose, and save me about 1500.00. 4 sections for each side, ramp with platforms & stops for rear, 2 smaller removable sections in the middle, and a long section in front. It is made 40 inches longer than the Vette needs, so that I can also use it for my truck. Once up on the platform, the short middle sections can be removed to access underneath with a creeper. Only bad thing is, I need a spotter to get on it!

It's more like a wooden 4 post lift. I kinda like it lol.

i have quickjacks but i though about building something like that. I have a large electric /hydraulic motorcyle table that is 8" high when lowered. Its a pain in the *** having it in the garage when you are not actually using it , thought about that platform to just park the vett over top so I had the other side of the two car garage for the wife and other projects instead of having to always work around the table. the vette stays in the garage. Race deck has a detailers platform that would be perfect but is like $2000 or so.

That one thing i hate about the quick jack and i think its downfall.. As much as i worked on cars I always slid under from the sides. I hate tunneling through from the front or back.I cant see actually pulling a trans out of a standard car with them.

seems like most jobs to do on these cars involve jacking it up to pull the wheels off, I go months without even opening the hood... when my crappy tractor supply jack craps out for good I'd absolutely consider a quick jack lol

I saw Jay Leno use a similar Bend Pak and they ran them across the car at the pick up points.

I imagine if you could do that on a McLaren F1 with elevated pads you could do the same on a Vette. As long as it clears the exhaust. It has a flat pan.

Interesting approach but I'd still spend the $1500 for a quick jack...

That looks no higher than typical jackstands lol Having a stock ride height helps you too able to use ramps like that.

Quick lift came with a new lift that is a little taller and they have a low clearance rack for low ceilings.

Not everyone has the clearance to do more it is a compromise.

I do the jack stands for now. I don have ramps thstveould are two piece that are hood for when the wheels don’t come off. Long one piece ramps are a pain as no side entrance or easy storage.

Made from 2x8s, so not much difference in height from regular ramps... but sits too low to get on regular ramps, these are
more gently angled so I can clear it with the front overhang. I would have gotten QJs, but without a shop, I have nowhere
to store them.

Works well enough for a lot of stuff, but I have to do too much brake and suspension work to keep tires on the ground.

As much as I like this, I’d still add a couple of small blocks to the sections the wheels rest on, just to make me feel certain that they’d never topple sideways.
