Default Seat upgrade

What seat upgrade recommendations do you guys have? I used to daily drive 2 C4's without any back pain but I can't do the same in my C5.

I have been looking at dropping in C7 heated and cooled seats.

C7 seats will definitely be a nice upgrade. Also Corbeau seats are popular.

Can’t agree more with you about the C4 seats my 1993 non sport seats have been by far the most comfortable of any car seat I’ve owned including my 2012 SL 550 with almost unlimited ajustable way including massage, I know some guys here have swap C7 seats in their C5 although I like the factory seats in my 2003 Z

c4 seats are great, problem is finding a set in good shape.

I put in c7 seats, others have put in c8. Using either c7 or c8 seats is hands down the easiest way to get fully functional, high quality seats in the c5.
They are drop in replacements, with some minor electrical work to keep movement ... a little more work if you have telescoping steering (GM ran the telescoping steering thruogh the SCM, so you have to either reuse the existing SCM, which is trivial, or build a cimple circuit with 2x relays). Heating and cooling will take a little more work, but doable. To date, I don't think anyone has gotten seat memory to work.

I personally like the look of c7 seats over the c8 , I think they just look better in the car but that is purely subjective. Others have c8 and love them

beware of vendors trying to sell you a pug-and-play adapter for the c5->c7. Last I checked, if you use the one from vetteworks, you'll lose telescoping steering. Several people on this forum have had issues with them. It is super easy to do the wiring, it's just not worth the headache dealing with them.

Anyway, here's a few pics of c7 seats-- this is with custom leather and foam from a local uphoslterer to match the rest of the interior I had done, black/red/red stitching

I put C6 seats in mine which was an improvement, but based on the info in this video;

if I had to do it over again, I would spend the additional $$$ and go with the even better C7 seats.

They fit right in? If so, I may go this route. I want more comfort in my C5 and il pay someone to do the wiring.

do I need the tracks on do the C5 tracks work?

there are several threads on this.
They drop right in, you do not need the c5 tracks.
The *only* issue is that the c5 seatbelt, which has a retractor at top and bottom, will interferere with rear travel. The c7 seats are a little wider.
You can resolve this by simply installing c6 seatbelts, which is about a 15 mintue job.
In addition, you'll have to do some *minor* electrical work.
The seats will retain full movement. IF you have telescoping steering, you have a little (not much) more work to do. the c7 seat heating/ventilation will take a touch more work.

Default Loving my C7 Seats

Shop around. I looked at so many online posts for anywhere from $700 to $2000. Patience is your friend. I got these 2016 for $400 from a junk yard 20 miles from my house. They were covered in dirt but once I got them cleaned and installed they have changed the car totally.

It rides so good! My fat *** stays in place and the fans keep the sweat off my back. It adds to the fun at speed too. I do have to fold them both forward to get the roof up and down but I never want to drive it with roof on.

yeah, the c7 seats to me just *look* like they could have been made to fit in the c5. The c8 seats -- while they are more suportive than the c7 -- really don't fit in a c5 cockpit. They belong in a c8.

Those look nice. How much did you pay for the seats alone with no reupholstering?

I had wondered about this. Particularly in an FRC roof style car due to the height of the C8 seats. I encountered a pair of pristine C8 Comps for sale two weeks ago and was tempted but they had come from a low option car and did not include the heating/cooling or adjustable lumbar/bolsters as some do so I passed. >> I also have a question which I have yet to answer as to the low limit height and adjusted angle heights of the seat bases for C7 or C8 seats vs the Corbeau A4s I am used to. << For the expense and effort to convert a clean pair I wouldn't want to finish the work and discover that they are not to my liking. My sole interest in considering C7/C8 seats is the extra adjustability given the electronic base and the heat/fan options. Otherwise, I am entirely pleased with my Corbeau A4s.

the c7 seats sit a *tiny* bit higher than the c5. easily compensated for with the adjustability. I'm 6', 210 pounds and have zero issues with them. The exatra adjustability-- especally being able to adjust the seat backs without a manual lever-- is night and day difference (of course, in addition to the seats generally being constructed far better and far more supportive).

Check ebay, I got a set for I think about $1,200, but that was a few years ago. Prices may have gone down (or up).
They were in useable shape, with some minor wear, no rips, but the color was too red for me (the pictures didn'treally convey how red they were), and I wanted brand new seats, not kind of new. I also wanted black/red/red stitching to match the rest of the interior, which I don't even think was an option for c7 seats.

I found someone locally asking $1000 for a set(could probably negotiate down). I can't tell if the seats are just dirty or the the car is a flood title or something. Here are some of the pictures he sent.

Heres a decent set that has free freight shipping, you'll just need to pay tax

https://www.ebay.com/itm/18613840915...Bk9SR-6IscTUYw

I bought mine via ebay and had a smooth transaction

I spoke with Mirrad industries today. We are going to see if he has the stuff to make a full set and also, I need to send him my shoulder measurements.

He is concerned that I may not fit so it's sounding like this is the most likely scenario. I will know in a day or so.

Thanks for the link. I've been looking at this same set for the last 2 days.
