Single din head unit. Adapter plate. DONE. 1 hour install or less.
Choose any random current single din and you have your BT input, usb input and maybe even apps or whatnot.
OR.... there are rear view mirrors now which run full android auto or carplay. I googled the first one to come up on amazon is $109 and has BT, FM transmit, Aux output and/or a built in speaker. Choose your poison.
OR OR.... get a 1 Factory Radio for $300 which bolts in directly and includes BT (music feed only, no calls)
I think the point was that the adapters which were good largely don't exist anymore unless found used. And then some of the ones to be found currently are less than optimal such as the fm transmitters. Lesser products often introduce static, poor quality feeds, or skew the sound profile greatly.
I'm in the same situation now, looking to add bluetooth/aux with the stock HU and no 12 disk changer, I've also tried the BT transmitters and their quality vs CDs is pitiful as you'd expect. Right now the options im looking at are wiring an aux port (good write up on here about it), cassette to aux (would need another HU w/ cassette), or retrofitting a 12 disk. I have not heard much of the ISFM2381 but there seems to be some on ebay for a reasonable price, I dont care about hands free calling and the mic, but if im understanding this correctly this is similar to adding the aux jack except your not going inside the HU, is that all there is to it?

I have been using the ISFM2381 for 3 years and it works perfectly. It is the same as adding the aux jack just simpler. Uses your antenna cable to pass through the signal and all hides behind the radio.
