Default First C5

Probably overpaid a bit, paid $20k, but I picked up this 2004 C5 yesterday with 28K miles. I had previously had a C6, but so far, I really like this thing, maybe even more than the C6. Looked for quite a while to find this color combo, but it was worth the wait. Sorry, not the best photos either....

Thanks. There are two Irocs in the garage. A 1990 convertible and a 1985 L69 5 speed.

Welcome to the C5 club, the color is awesome!!!! I was in between the C5 the and C6 when I was shopping my 1st corvette, after having my C5 for 3 years I am still in love.
Pop up head lights are the best.

Welcome to the C5 ownership. Love the outside/inside color combo. The car looks well cared for.

For the low miles and what looks to be mint condition, plus it is what you wanted, I think you did okay. Can you say why you like it better than a C6? Asking because I used to be a C5 guy and thought it was an incredible car.

I don't think you over payed. That's a great color combo and appears in great shape.

Those Camaros are awesome! I've had a few. Only one gen 3, a 92 25th Anniversary RS. 305 tbi auto, it was very slow lol

I assume that 90 is a DX3 RPO? Any idea how many 90 verts with the DX3 were made?

Congrats on the Vette!

Mostly preference on the style. I am older, 54, and a corvette to me has always had the flip up lights! I think they are a little roomier on the inside also. Don't get me wrong, the C6 is a great car!

Thanks! You know your 3rd gens, yes, it is a DX3 car. Unfortunately, they don't break numbers down that far. There were 359 Irocs in 1990 with the DX3 delete package, but that would be all models.

Looks like a very nice '04 in hard-to-find Medium Spiral Grey Metallic.
Love the third generation Camaros and yours look excellent.
Back in the early 80's I had this Black Z28 T-Top with Recaro seats in addition to my '74 Corvette:

I have the same car with grey interior. It was a difficult combination to find and with a six speed. I bought new in 2004 just before the C6 appeared. My first corvette was gonna have pop-up headlights!
You will find the car an absolute joy and very versatile, long trips or race track. Perfect. Mine has 85,000 miles. Only thing that does not work is the fuel gauge.

Congrats on the car and a solid color choice! When I first was looking for a corvette back in 2014, I was torn between a cheaper, higher mileage medium spiral grey convertible, and a low mileage black on black c4 zr-1. Then, a friend of mine let me drive his 02z and all bets were off. I do love torch red but a c5z in med. spiral grey would have been a nice color option.

I think you did good. I bought my 02 w.56K miles a little over a year ago for 19K and it was/is in great shape and was bone stock.

Congratulations! Same interior color as my 2000 Convertible. I love the gray and two tone door panels.

Nice find! If this car is the one that "spoke" to you when you saw it, you'll be happy so don't think about what you paid and enjoy the heck out of it. I looked at over 40 C5s before I found "the one" which is a 2003 Quicksilver Z06. I recently bought a C8 and I still look at the C5 Z06 and smile that it is mine. It had almost 322k more miles than the C8 I was buying. I have another 12k miles to add to the C5 to be able to say I put half the miles on the car. I've already achieved that with the C8. It is kind of cool to own a 50th Anniversary year car and a 70th Anniversary Edition car. Lots of changes in 20 years.

The Camaros you have are looking great as well. I'm sure you'll keep the Vette in the same condition. The C5 engine was developed to attain 250k miles and the chassis 400k miles so DRIVE IT!

The C5 is just more fun and smiles for the miles. I enjoyed my C6 and never really figured out all the gizmos on my C7.
