That boot will need to be replaced if you go to any other shifter setup.
Unfortunately, the last time I looked, about 3-4 months ago, the OE boot has been long discontinued, and there don't seem to be any left, in the parts warehouses. An aftermarket piece is supposedly "in the works", but I have yet to see one........
Rotorwash4,
the photo you are showing is one of the older MGW shifters. I have that same shifter with a TMod tub in my 2002 and could not be happier. It did take a little learning curve on my part since it was so different than the stock C5 shifter and tub.
Once you develop a feel for how short and precise the throws are you will wonder why everyone does not make this modification.
Its hard to tell in the photo i posted, but will a threaded Hurst ball shift **** thread on to the MGW shifter? It looks like it doesn't have threads on the top of it.......?
As Tusc stated, the picture shows the shifter with a C6 stalk. That MGW shifter has an interchangeable stalk so it could be fitted with either a C5 or C6 stalk. Mine currently has the C5 stalk on it so I could use a screw on ****.
