I was at a work cookout/party and took the Vette. Pulled up to the pavilion and assumed rock star parking-

So my buddy comes up to me and says, my son loves your car, can you let him sit in it? SURE!
I get the 8 yr old in the drivers seat, I get in the passenger seat. I ask him if he knows where the gas peddle is? He says yes sir, it's right there! (He was correct)
I put the key in and start the car, I let it idle for ~30 seconds and then I tell him to "whack it"!
He gives it a little hit and a nice blow off valve hiss!
So I tell him to whack it good all the way and then back off-man this kid is a natural! He whacked it and feathered off. His eyes were large and his spirit was MAX! So cool to let a youngin' feel the fun of power in a "cool car". Just got a text from my buddy and he said, "my son says we have to buy a Hotrod now" and my wife hates you!
my Godparents' son had an 84 when i was in 1st grade (like driving an early C8 now), and he picked me up from school one day & gunned it down a couple of our fun roads on the way home.
on top of being the only time kids at school ever thought i was cool, it solidified my life goal vehicle.
less than 20yrs later, i bought my C5 & still have it today.
70 years ago my older brother's friend gave me a ride on his Cushman motor scooter. My 62nd and 63rd motorcycles are out in the garage keeping my C5 company. It is true. Things that impress us as kids usually stay with us for a lifetime.
Great story, I'm sure that you made a lasting impression on him and created a future enthusiast. I had many impressionable experiences with cars, motorcycles and racing starting when I was very young.
Just before dark I pulled into a parking space with my C5, turned the car off and then
the headlights. Kid walking by said, Momma! Look at those headlights!

Some how Corvettes always turn heads, there beauty on 4 wheels, and we all know every boys dream was owning one some day, just like me when I kid, and for 40 years still living my dream.
When I had my C7 convertible I was just done parking the car when a little boy pointed to it and told his dad how cool it looked. I asked the lad if he watches Transformer movies and when he said yes, I hit the top down button on the key fob and the top lowered seemingly by magic to him.
Kids are lucky nowadays... No Hot Roders in existence in my youngster days.... I thought my granny's car, a 37 Dodge 3 window coup with a rumble seat, was a hot rod... I'm old 🥴
