My one pet peeve is parking. I usually pick a clear spot well away from everyone....and yet someone ALWAYS comes up to park right beside me while I'm in the store. I guess it's a compliment but......
I got a handicap placard for my car. the parking spots are much wider and I have a tough time getting out of the car in tight parking spots
When my wife has driven my cars she gets a LOT of attention. The cars get enough attention on their own, but when a dudebro looks over and a chick is driving.... attention seeking goes to 11.
When I first got the car back in 2006 (my first Corvette) I couldn't believe the "man attention". So much so that it became uncomfortable and I began to believe I had purchased a "dude car". Now I just smile back and wave feeling fortunate that people still admire this car.
I have a pretty much stock looking 2K coupe with wheels and tires being the only modification visible. 24 yrs old but the Magnetic Metallic Red has gathered quite a few comments, "nice car, really like that color" to which I reply " don't look too close before 9pm". It's a driver and it shows on the nose. I think the C5 has timeless styling looking modern yet with so many cues of older models. The Woodward "Dream Cruise" is coming up soon which means every garage project in the Detroit area are coming out to roam the streets and work bugs out before the big event. Driving around today I saw quite a few muscle car era rides, and I always thumbs up them. What is really cool is when they do it back or even initiate it. Feels good getting a raised thumb from an old guy in a badass 68 GTX with steam rollers on the back and what sounded like a HUGE cam sporting a 440 Six Pack.
I’d have to say I still get as much attention/interest in the C5Z as I do in the C8Z in my neck of the woods.
I believe the C5 is a timeless design that will continue to remain relevant in appearance for some time to come. Hard to believe mine is now 21 years old.
Lewis, your C5 has to be one of the nicest, primo examples of a C5 in existence. Honestly, from a profile view, I like yours and Shirls much better than the C8. Call me biased or whatever, but to me the C5 screams Corvette, whie the C8 whispers it.......

This may be extreme but I actually stopped dating a girl when I was younger because she would go out of her way to park CLOSE to nicer vehicles parked far away from everyone. We went to our local BJs and she parked right up next to a brand new 07 GT500. They had just came out and it was the first one I had ever seen. I asked wth she was doing and she explained she does this all the time and she hates people with nice cars that think they're better than everyone else. It lead to a pretty heat discussion. She had to go. I can't deal with that mentality.
Sometimes I take my car out and feel invisible. Some times I take it out and every other driver is taking pics and video of it. People love the blow off valve.

Projection much? Yeesh. She probably would key your car on breakup too.
One thing I note. I can be driving and some folks go off the road looking. Some pull up and say nice car some beep horns waiving.
But you go to a cruise some come up and say nice car but to the car folks it is just another Corvette.
‘’Now my Fiero is kind of a one off. I go to shows in it and I can draw a crowd of people. That car is different enough that it is not like any other and to be honest Few Fiero’s are in that condition.
‘’This is just an observation. I expected not to be the same attraction but depending where I am at it is different.
I think the car people look for new and different. Average folks like any nice car.
Note the C5-7 are not rare at events it might be 1 of 5 at even small gatherings.
