Default Rotors for a C5

Greetings,

I am looking to replace the brake disc rotors on my 2004 C5 base model. I want to install slotted and drilled rotors, but I want to retain the original calipers. I am looking for a set of rotors that are coated were the center hub will not rust. Any suggestions as to a decent set of drilled and slotted replacement rotors?

Thanks,
Larry

When I had my C5s I ran Baer Eradispeed one piece drilled/slotted rotors. Not the cheapest, but a quality product.

Powerstop makes a good rotor also.

Baer Eradispeed is a good choice. If you want to maintain stock dimensions, go with the two piece set up in front and the one piece set up in the rears to better fit your OEM calipers. If you go with the larger +2 rotors kit, the rear will require additional, supplied, spacers to extend the rear calipers.

Installed Powerstop last year, did not discolor or show rust yet.

Just one question. Are you buying drilled and slotted for looks or expected performance?

If you want them for looks that is fine but sold rotors are what are needed for better performance.

Pads no longer out gas’s and the holes remove mass that absorbs the heat from the pads. The holes have no cooling effect.

Slots can clean rubber and dirt from the rotor surface.

The factor chemically treated Delco rotors are the best you can buy. They are dimples for cleaning solid for heat absorption.

if you plan to track time solid is the only way to go.

What would you buy for track and daily use? KNS plain brake rotors for about 300.00. AC Delco plain rotor from rock auto, about 200.00, or Raybestos plain rotor from rock auto, about 200.00, pricing is for 4 rotors. It’s okay to say none too.
