Well folks, it is with a heavy heart that I sold my C5 today. Between the recent tornado and fire at my house I really need to downsize a bit. My home is being gutted to the frame and the roof is coming off to replace burnt beams and joists. The good news is in around 6 months i will basically have a brand new home. Since my plan since February has been to sell my house and move to Florida I will now be in a position to have a substantial profit when sold. Enough to get back in the saddle. I came back after selling my C6 and C7. I shall return but will still stick my head in here to offer my meager help...
Did you have replacement value insurance? What is your insurance story for this? They taking care of you? Did you find the contractor or did they provide one of thiers? Hope you can be there frequently to make sure you get what you're paying for (what you wanted - no short cuts or "misunderstandings'). Is "6 months" in the contract - probalby not so don't be bashful about taking progress photos and unannounced stop ins while the work is supposed to be going on.
I had a house fire and it took a year to get fixed. I had to remind the contractor that insurance wouldn't pay if it took over a year - then they scrambled to get it done. Make sure you know the details of the policy. You might want to get a lawyer to review the contracts. Hope all goes well.
Best
Very sorry to hear of your troubles. Hopefully you didnt lose any family heirlooms/pics/videos, etc. Seems quite a few forum members are/have moved to Florida. We spend winters (snowbirds) there each year. Not too far from Tampa. Wishing you the best.

Insurance is so far taking care of me. I am in a hotel right noe but will be renting a house next week all on State Farms dime. The contractor was recommended by the fire department and were on site right after the fire was extinguished. They say rebuild is more likely to be 4 months. I'm staying within a 2 mile radius of the house and have been by there every day since. Also taking tons of photos and have them categorized on my laptop. Attached pic is from yesterday. Cleanup
is done and demolition complete except for the roof removal.
What the heck? It sounds like you have had some serious misfortune, Len. Best of luck getting everything back shipshape and getting moved to Florida. It sounds as if you are a true Corvette wheeler dealer, so I have no doubts that you will land solidly on your feet on that front. May good fortune smile upon you.

Been into Corvettes since I bought my first. A red 1970 IN 1970. Paid $4400.00 out the showroom door.
Best of luck to you in It all. It will all work out the way it's suppose to. I don't envy the warm, or should I say hot, weather anymore. After living in Arizona for about 28 years I actually look forward to the cold winters again. At least for now anyway.
