I came across a post and also looked in the manual and I'm curious if there are two different FOBs ?
This was the post: eBay - $22 - also bought the remotes to go with it - a set of #1 and #2
If it uses two what would be the difference ? What settings would change ?

They all come with Fob 1 and Fob 2 for memory 1 and memory 2 settings.
Good to know. Getting ready to order a pair of FOBs and now I know to get the #1 & #2. Only came with one key and FOB so will also be getting a couple keys too.
Thanks CEZ

There is no difference between the fobs other than a number stamped on the back of the cover.
The general idea was to have the fob with the number 1 on it to match to the 1st memory position, same with fob 2.

just makle sure you get the right fob.
The fobs for 2000 and older are different than the ones for 2001 and newer, and are not interchangeable.
(I believe in 98 or 99, there was one year of a passive key fob, but that didn't last).
the 2000 and old are a lot more expensive, like $100 a piece for NOS.

From what I can tell from the manual and from looking at online sellers there are two different part numbers and I'm guessing they are different frequencies and can be programmed to the different memory settings. Kind of surprised that in the manual it says it can program three individual memory settings to three transmitters. I guess I'll find out after ordering the 25695954, 25695955 two pack off amazon. My present transmitter is a '955 so at least one should work for me

Both should work for you and regarding the three sitting yes the C5 you can program three settings by pressing 1 & 2 memory buttons at the same time once they start to flash you have programmed the third sitting.
if you have the correct vintage key fobs, there is no difference between key fob 1 and 2 (with the caveat that I don't know how they handled it with the one-off passive keys, I think 98?). It's arbitrary. In fact, when the battery went on my "1" key fob, I just reprogrammed the second one as the first, I didn't have an extra battery and didnt have a plastic pry tool to open it (the fobs scratch easily.
Anyway, these are not like old school garage door openers that operate on different frequencies. they are digital, operate on the same frequency, and simply get assigned a different address. They work almost (but not quite) like a wireless extension of the j1850 vpw network in the c5.
I bought an aftermarket fob on Amazon with no number on the case and programmed it as fob #1 through the DIC. It has better range than my original fobs ever had.
