Anyone have the problem of the reverse lock-out not engaging shifting 4-5 at about 2500 rpm? I have a CAGS but not sure if this could be causing the problem. Only happens once in a while.

I assume you are talking about shifting from 4th to 5th but accidentally going in to reverse (grinding)? There is a solenoid to prevent this. If the tranny has never been messed with then it's most likely a bad solenoid or blown fuse...If it's intermittent...then maybe something to do with the speed sensor...
Car is untouched and no codes thrown. It is going to the dealer next week. I am also having intermittent problems with the drivers side door lock not unlocking.
thanks,
Greg

Took mine into the dealer for bad clutch problems at 3503 miles.
Got the car back 3515 miles, the clutch chattered like a full blown race clutch, reverse was almost impossible to engage almost like I was pushing against the solenoid, and my tail pipes are completely uneven.
3 Technicians drove my car and didn't notice this after repair... So watch out for lousy dealer service centers!
Now I drive a rental Ford Focus whoopeeee!
I have had this happen in my Trans-Am up-shifting from 6th to 5th sometimes it locks out sometimes it doesn't, but it was the rare occasion and usually only gets ya a quick buzz.
A Quick check in a parking lot would be to roll about 10mph and simply try pushing the stick to the far right and slow down to a stop while doing this. You'll know if it is locked out because as soon as you come even remotely close to a stop it opens up. Don't try to engage just push to the right like you want to engage.
Re: Reverse lock-out not functioning. (G-MONEY$ Z06)
This happened to me twice 2 years ago. Both times the tranny did not upshift from 4th to 5th on the first try at freeway speed. I let it go back to neutral and then I gave it a harder flick of the wrist and raked reverse on two separate occasions. Needless to say, it was very disconcerning. However, my tranny/shifter now seems to have broken-in so I have not had any more failures to upshift 4 to 5 and I haven't raked reverse since. Either my reverse lockout does not work or I managed to defeat it with the above described sequence.

Remove the CAGS disable device before going back to the dealer.
Even if working properly, if you push hard enough, you'll grind reverse. I did this chasing a pcar at the track going well over 100 and the general was kind enough to subsequently re-build the transmission (it would still go into reverse, just didn't like to stay there). I read somewhere that it only takes about 25lbs of pressure, so be careful if you have big meathooks. :yesnod: Haven't done this with the Hurst shifter yet, though I'm probably just more careful now.
