Man, I just got my first vette and it is some kind of fine. 2002 Torch Red Z06. I've had it about two weeks and it's great!! I was wondering if anyone could give me a couple of recommendations on where to pick up a couple of items. First, what kind of intake system should I put on it? Second, what shp manual do you guys recommend? Third, Where can I get one of those logo hood insulators to change out? Mine has a tear init and I want to replace it ASAP. Looking forward to being one of the gang!!
:D :D
Congratulations  and welcome to the Forum!! :seeya
There's lots of choices for intakes; BlackWing, K&N, etc., and just about anything out there is better than the stock box.:yesnod:
The hood liner is an item you can get from your local Chevrolet dealer. If you want some custom art work you can do it yourself or contact Paula for somthin' fancy!! :D
Welcome bro. There is a lot of technical data in the forum on intakes. Vette magazine this month evaluates the VaraRam, and it appears to work very well. Good luck.
OK. So I'm checking out these air intakes and they range froma bout $300-$450. They also state that they add 14-18 horsepower. Is that really true? I'm all about additional hp but being the young, naive grasshopper I am, I find this hard to believe. Any opinions??? :flag
I'd get the black wing and a bigger air bridge. I have the Halltech carbon fiber, it looks very cool, but is very expensive. The Halltech filter does not use cotton or paper, and the Blackwing is made by a huge filter company, they claim they have the best filter medium out there.
So CptZ06, your vote goes to the blackwing with a bigger air bridge. Will it actually add the 15+ hp that it advertises? Are the air bridge and the blackwing two separate items or does it come as a kit? Be patient, remember I'm the new kid on the block............. :D
I'll help out Herr Capt on this (as long as he will send me plane tickets to get to Oktoberfest ins Munchen next year) ;)
The Airbridge and the Blackwing are from two different companies and do not (that I have seen) come as a set. The Blackwing is readily available from a number of supporting vendors (shop for a good price) The Halltech airbridge is made by Halltech, a supporting vendor and is available from them (for sure) and probably a number of other vendors. Go through some of the tuners in the left column and I am sure you will find more than one choice/price. I don't have an airbridge yet but a$ $oon as I can I will.
Way to go...you've got the sweetest ride around! Check out previous postings on the "mods" you are interested in. Plenty of those around this forum. And consider looking over the list of forum sponsors for the best prices when it comes to mods.
Congrats & welcome. For the hood insulation, go to your Chevy store, or give Ken Fichtner's parts guru Bob a call. (Fichtner Chev is a supporting dealer here on the Forum.)
