Pace car question
Steve
They are convertibles, "Pace Car Purple" with black & yellow leather interior, some special trim. Black tops. Yellow painted stock wheels. Transmission could be manual or automatic.
12 disc CD changer, body side mouldings, and magnesium wheels were options.
Per the Corvette Black Book.
Does anyone know the reason for the differences? Search for '98 pace car pictures and you can see what I am asking.
Thanks
Steve
There were a large number of festival cars that were used by the parade and press during the event. Every photo I can find of these cars say once car. Maybe these cars were the only ones that got the pace car decal.
or were the cars with out not supplied with that decal in reproduction kits?
might contact the pace car registry.
My best guess is any that do NOT have the “official pace car” in the decal have replacement decals in place as all the pictures I can find original to the 98 race parade/track cars definitely have that script in the decal.
My next guess would be that the “parade” cars had it and the ones sent straight to other dealers around the world did not. I think maybe 105 cars were sent to Indy for the race and festivities and the rest went straight to dealers.
Found this listing Here for a 213 mile example without the script in the decal…. Hard to believe a 213 mile example has aftermarket or replacement decals
