It’s been done, though pretty sure not N.A. Will Handzel’s book “How to Build Chevy LS1/LS6 V-8s” is a great read and details a couple of builds that get into that power range.
900 wheel is about where I'd stop on factory blocks. Can and have they gone further: yes.
Supercharger or Turbo are the two ways to go.
I've seen it achieved at the absolute bleeding edge of a H/C combo with an overspun V3Ti on E85. "something Dolphin" was the member who had done so just two or three years ago. I think he tipped 998rw. Though I would think a YSi would be preferred.
You might use the block but an aftermarket racing block would live longer.
it would need supercharged Twin Turbo.
I would use an GM 6.0 LSX block and go from there as it will take 1000 hp reliably and a bit more with lower risk.
The LSX is the heavy duty version of the LS and has much more internal strength.
And yes all internals and heads would need upgrades.
To use a stock block or any stock internals it’s likely a hand grenade and a matter of time. The pressures in the cylinders are great and even with all new internals the block will let go.
‘The LS is a strong engine but it is not enough for that much power and live.

Turbos can do it as well.
Are you planning pistons and rods here? I would.
100% pistons and rods, should I go forged or Billet with my internals?

Forged.
You will need new everything if you plan 900 HP. Even the cooling will need an upgrade.
I would recommend if you are asking questions like this to find a story on a 1000 HP LSX and just look at what all they did. Just Google and a number of videos will pop up. Or find where you can just buy the LSX for $34,000
