Default First time corvette owner!

Hello to all! I recently purchased a 2004 c5 z06 commemorative edition. My intentions with this car are to leave it pretty stock other exhaust, lowering, and possibly a CAI. I have bought this car to learn manual on and then learn how to drift donuts burnouts ect…basically beat on this car. Now that you guys now of my plans I have a couple of questions, how low can you go on the stock bolts, I want to slam this car but keep it cost effective lol. Do aftermarket lowering bolts allow you to go lower? Also I have noticed a little bit of wheel hop when I launch my car or punch on it in first with tc off. Is that normal and does it go away with lowering? Below are a couple of photos of my car, it is completely stock.

If your goal is to learn how to shift and beat it I suggest you to sell this beautiful CE and buy a run of the mill already abused Z06 or FRC

In Russia, you don't beat on car, car beat on you.

Don’t lower it, the cars are low enough. Yes you can lower it on stock bolts, the air damn in the front will literally be two fingers wide off the ground. You’re going to scrape on everything. Everyone with a lowered C5 has stories of them scraping. Well, it was a nice CE. Good luck.

Congrats on your 2004 CE. Looks like a beautiful car. I have to agree with others - yes you can lower it but that front splitter may not last long. And beating the crap out of the car is one quick way to end up with a number of problems. But, your car, your money. Good luck with it.

First timers most often require a "learning period" when growing up... Yes, it's challenging!

Congrads on buying your 2004 C5. As Mr. Vetterman opined, it is your car and do what makes YOU happy, not anyone else.

I remember my first beer, awh, I mean standard shift vehicle. I was about 13 and started working summers and weekends on a ranch. Standard shift Ford Bronco, old original square body ones back when they were utility vehicles. Early 70s so they were just ranch/hunting beaters. LOL

Why in the world would you buy such a nice car that has a good bit of collector potential and then trash its value by modding it and beating it up???
That car needs to be put in a climate controlled garage and taken out only on nice days to the car show or club gatherings, cars and coffee, etc.
A crying shame to do to it what you are planning.

lol because i like to drive my cars. And simple mods wont molest this car. C5s are going to hold there value especially the z06 i can drive this car to 50k miles and sell it for more than i bought it. But i will be keeping this car for life.

I wouldn't lower a c5 more than the stock bolts allow unless you convert to a front air intake bumper. Even lowered on stock bolts the air dam drags on many inclines even being careful. My CE lowered all the way on stock bolts.

I'm in the midst of buying a Commemorative Edition, too. Doing the deal this coming week.

Funny story about beating a car (not sure why you would use this car for a drift car, of all things...but to each their own...it just makes all the other commemorative editions that much more valuable.) Anyway, back to the story... I served as VP Corporate Marketing for Smithfield Foods. Those of you who follow NASCAR will know of the program I created by bringing our brand(s) into the sport first with Richard Petty/Aric Almirola and then StewartHaas Racing with Aric. When I analyzed research on pork product consumption, NASCAR fans ate bacon at a rate of 26% higher than the national average. Hot Dogs? Try 42% higher!!! They consumed every product category in which we operated in similar fashion. Didn't take a genius to figure out that the fan base is absolutely our heavy-half market segment where they eat/buy a disproportionate amount of product.

Petty tried hard to get Aric into the winner's circle and we finally broke through at Daytona, but if you asked Aric about The King's policy on donuts and burnouts, he would flat-out tell you that The King forbade him from doing so. Richard's explanation? "Did you ever see a jockey who wins the Kentucky Derby get off his horse and kick the **** out of it??" ...don't kick the **** out of my race car!"

Appropriately, why would you beat the **** out of a perfectly good...and collectible...Commemorative Edition C5???
