The Best of Corvette for Corvette Enthusiasts
Unfortunately, a standard insurance policy only pays KBB value so if you have a heavily modded Corvette, you need a Agreed On Value policy from the NCM or Hagerty. They usually aren't available for daily drivers as they have mileage, garage kept, and pleasure use only conditions, among others.

A lawyer can write a letter to your insurance, or make an inquiry, for about $300. They won’t handle a lawsuit for that amount, but the insurer doesn’t know that. You can use it as leverage to get a better deal.
Consider a counter offer for either a greater value, or the same value with a stipulation that you keep the engine. To them, an engine may be worth little, but only you know what up you have in it.
Now let’s say the scrap value is $5,000? They would deduct that from the settlement so you walk away with the car and $9,000. You might call some the many Corvette salvage companies for for a scrap value ballpark.
UPDATE: Warning long story! (I am a writer).
1. I talked to State Farm's agent today. She said that it is *possible* to get a higher payout if I can produce receipts of repairs, replacements and repairs. But I need to provide all receipts, and I am shitty about receipts. I would have been better about keeping them if I knew one day I was going to sell it. NEVER! So I need to memorize all the shops I took the C5 to in order to get transaction histories. The shop that did my nitrous install was a jerk, but he was good. I believe I paid 1900.00 for the install. I then bought awesome 3.90 Motive gears and asked him if he would do the install. After being denied by 5 shops who didn't want to do the install, I went back to the ******* and he said he would do it. So I dropped off the gear set off at his shop and waited for him to do the install.
One month went by...nothing. After calling every shop in town, I found one guy who said he's do the swap. It was pure luck. I think I paid over $1500 for the install. He did an awesome job. But, lol, he said he'd never do it ever again for anyone with a Vette. He told me he had to buy special tools and said the install was a complete pain in the ***. He was a nice guy though. I like nice people.
So I went back to get the gear-set from the jerk's shop to take it elsewhere. He copped a major attitude. He then asked "you shopped around behind my back?!" Since I never heard back from, I gave up and moved on. He handed me the gear-set all pissed-off and kicked me off his property and told me to "never come back." To make matters worse, I was not given the dyno sheet, invoice or receipt. He said he would email it to me, but he never did. So much for getting any help from him in getting the docs.
2. I did something really stupid yesterday. On a whim, stopped by a reputable used car lot and met with a nice rep. I told him my story, and that I needed another fast toy to play with because I had fast rides since 1988. I asked about other used Vettes, Mustangs and Camaros, and there were a few, but waaaay out of my price range. He then said well, "I do have a 2019 Challenger RT with 26,000 miles on it." It was gray, which doesn't excite me. But I needed a new fast toy asap, as I was going nuts.
So we checked it out and it was in flawless condition. It had every bell and whistle. So we took it out for a spin. Although it wasn't nearly as fast, it did push me back into my seat. And the exhaust sounded impressive. It is bone stock, and I wanted something at least slightly modded. It grew on me quick though. I have never been a Mopar guy. My history is Camaros and this (now dead) Corvette.
We sat down and I said "I want it." He then asked what can I put down. I said only $500.00. He then and went to to the finance guy, and he said "no dice." I figured on that. So I sat there and looked out the window at my daily driver, a 2008 4Runner. Then the light bulb went off in my head. So I mentioned that I was willing to trade in the 4Runner. The thing is beat to ****. Body damage everywhere, and no rear tailgate window. And every single check engine light was lit up. My dash looked like a Christmas tree. 103,000 miles. 2wd.
They they went out to take a look at the 4Runner, and I was ready to see them fall over in laughter. I expected *maybe* 500.00 for it. They came back into the office and said they would give me $2,000 for it. HUH?! And it would meet the requirement of their demand of $2,500 to hold the vehicle until financing was approved. Ok, so I don't have shitty credit, but I have NO credit due to a divorce and bankruptcy. Lo and behold, I was approved. HUH?! The final sale balance was around $24,000. I signed off on it. $780 a month payments. I will have to get working again to make ends meet, as I have been retired and on SSDI for several years.
They threw in some perks. The sticker on the windshield said "AS IS, NO WARRANTY." The sales man was cool. They threw in a bumper to bumper warranty for 24 months. Plus, unlimited free car washes. I could wash it every day for a year if I wanted to. Then they said "the car is now yours" and tried to throw the keys at me. I had other places to go, so I said I would be back on Thursday to trade in the 4Runner and take the Challenger.
I never had a paddle shifter car, but its sounded like it could be fun.
It's a pig on wheels, but still fun.

I do like lighter cars when pushing them hard which is another reason I want a C5. It'll never be as light as my Miata but it has a way better power to weight ratio.

Oh wow. This is the automotive equivalent of a rebound relationship.

I know you are in a hurry to get a new car but stop and let this work out the way you want it not the way you can have it.
I see so many people make poor choices when they rush into things be it a girl, car, investment etc. Often they get burned and only make things worse.
If you really want the Dodge then do it but if you are just doing it to solve a feeling don't do it.
Like Jimmy Buffet sang about a tattoo. It was a permanent reminder of a temporary feeling.
If you want another Corvette you can get one cheaper than the Dodge and the Corvette is bottomed out value wise and will only hold or go up the dodges are still going down in price.
This is cheaper than that Challenger and WAY better.
Disregard. It sold.
Point is, you can find a great C5 or early C6 for less than that Challenger.

I would take the 14K and start looking / saving for a C5 Z06 or C6 Grandsport. If you get it repaired, that's a can of worms waiting. No telling what else got broken. And even if repaired that would always be in the back of my head if it was done right..
Good luck with what you decide

I don't know how much a 4runner with "only" 100k miles is worth, I don't know much about fourbys, but I do know they are rather desirable. At this point you probably don't wanna know either.
I missed that part on the payment! OP was saying he can barely make his bills every month and instead of just getting another C5 with the insurance check gets into massive debt. Yikes. That used car dealership must've been so happy seeing him roll up and high-fiving each other after OP left. Are Challengers even reliable? I don't know anything about them since I don't care for Dodge products.
