Just a side-by-side picture of the OEM 241 head and the new Summit Racing / AFR head that is going onto the LS1.

Completely different theory of what a combustion chamber should look like?
Naturally aspirated on gasoline?

New compression ratio should just about the same as an LS6 engine. These heads are a copy of a mild-worked 243 or 799 GM head.

The AFR heads are amazing and very good quality. I have been where they are assembled and they do a great job.

If I change heads it is what I would use.

I see you are in Arizona, are you going to have a shop tune it, or do it yourself?

I have LS6 intake and long tube headers for my 1999 C5 but on the fence about adding more mods if paying a tuning shop, or buy HP Tuners and learn and just put the headers on.

For a tune I am going to either send the PCM out or find a shop in Tucson.
Slight problem is that I am 45 to 60 minutes away from Tucson, which makes driving there likely a problem.
Couple of solutions:
1. flat bed it to the shop.
2. Get a partial tune by taking the PCM to them, then drive it there for the final tune.
3. Just get a "mail order tune" since the mods I have done are nothing new/exotic and just need a street tune.

I have thought about getting an HP Tuner and learning, but just not sure.
I will also be installing long tube headers.

I am old and a little "old school". All this talk of "tunes" and sending (or just taking) the PCM to the shop for a tune?? All mind
blowing to me, that's for sure. There is a lot to learn, that's for sure as well.
Some day my brain might be taken to a "brain repair/tuning" shop and then be put back in my head. Maybe a good idea.
I visited the HPTune site, interesting that it offers an introductory kind of course, if you will, to "tuning", which course focuses
on emissions control. I kind of see the heavy hand of governmental control here. At the end of the course participants are
encouraged to sign a pledge to not do anything contrary to government rules regarding emission control devices. Do smog
inspectors in states such as California use HPTunes for emissions control I wonder?
