Default Better ride quality

Hey I have a C5 corvette with the active handling but the ride quality is so hard and am wanting to soften it up. I stay in Scotland so there's lots of rough roads and potholes does anyone have any suggestions. Would changing out the 25 year old shocks help ?

Every time I ride in a magnetic ride equipped GM it feels more harsh than I expect regardless of the setting. A good set of adjustable coilovers will give you better control over the ride quality and give more confidence by getting rid of the leaf springs. I am actually a fan of how good the leaf springs can be for actual control of the car but they feel awful in the middle of a turn when you hit a bump and it feels like the rear end is hopping over towards the outside of the turn.

All that to say the last time I looked at "good" magnetic ride shocks it was in the same ballpark as a very solid set of coilovers. I really love the Silvers coilovers on my Corvette, I love the BC DS series coilovers on my drift car and if I were buying another set Feal coilovers would be at the top of the list. My 2015 Yukon had magride until I deleted it and put Fox coilovers on the front and air-ride-only shocks on the rear and it is a much more compliant ride even after upgrading both sway bars front and rear.

P.S. to answer your actual question I would say that new shocks will help if your current ones are worn out or you have a stiffer shock. I know that I put Bilstein B8s on my car very early on when I got it and it made the ride less comfortable than the blown shocks were. I am told the B6 shocks are better in this regard.

Check if the shock stuffers are still in place.

You don't say what year you have, some of the oldest C5's have the softest springs so using them along with raising the ride height would allow more compliance over pot holes.https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums...ing-rates.html

The active handling really doesn't impact the ride quality, but as mentioned, check the condition of your shocks, springs, and tires. A set of newer runflats (if you have an older set on the car) can improve the ride quality or consider non-runflat tires. There are a number of good aftermarket shocks for the car as well as the coil overs.
