You're going to face the same parts availability issue with any 20+ year old modern vehicle.
Computer chips are not like mechanical parts. It's impractical to manufacture a 20 year old computer chip at all and generally not possible to do so cost effectively.
I have been collecting some hard to find parts, Like the Turn signal / Headlight and Cruise control stalk, i looked everywhere even a Ebay guy who said he could rebuild one,and some one hare suggested on doing a Google search, and I did, the only source was Autozone, who said that they stock that very part. So I went to Autozone site and indeed that showed the part # and in stock, so I figured "What the Hell" It was $105.00 and free shipping ( It had to come from New Jersey, which is across the delaware river ) but it came via Fedex 2 days later and it was identical right down to the Very same blue Electrical connecter. So as far as I concerned, there are outlets out there. But I'd have never considered looking elsewhere if not for this place and the fantastic membership here.
