Default Back in a c5!

Hi All!

Decided with the weather getting a bit cooler here in Texas (ok, just being not quite as hot!) that I needed a vert again, and it had to be a stick shift. Picked this 2001 up a few weeks ago. Enjoying it so far.

Gotta eliminate some of the dang c5 flags in the interior (and door jams!) Not totally sold on the wheels but they do match the Pewter. Don't want to run a front plate, but gotta find a filler for the hole. Also need to do some odds and ends, little things that just need replacing over time, like the sun visors.

Took her out last night for the first time with the top down. Felt so good!

It's fun seeing everyone's c5s. Lots of nice ones here!

ps Added pix with my husband's c3.

C&S Corvettes has the visors, as do several Amazon vendors. I suggest you remove them and see how you like it without them but the replacements are very good quality, not the cheap cardboard insides like the originals.

Glad to have you aboard, Liz. I own a 2001 Navy Blue 6spd vert.

Already ordered and have these here to put in! I use my visors a good bit, so I don't think I'd be comfortable just eliminating them.

Hi! I love all the blues. Would like to have bought a blue (or yellow!) but this one was close to me and fit my other requirements, so decided to grab it!

I can see what your favorite color is and they look like you are ready for shows together bonding.

Has for the wheels I would wait, they might grow on you?

Nice pick up. I like the stock Magnesium wheels. If you decide to swap them out, you will probably get some good $$$ for them if you decide to sell them as they have a cult following in the C5 crowd.

Regarding the visors, I installed the same aftermarket ones with the plastic (vs. GM cardboard) interior frames and LED vanity lights two years ago and they have started to show bends and waves in the plastic. At first I was impressed, but I guess the (Florida) heat has something to do with it.

Nice find and great pics. Holy, that '73 is a real beauty

Sorry to hear of the cheesy mods but it'll get much better once you get at it.

FWIW, I think the mag wheels look absolutely great and really suit the pewter car...maybe even better than the polished thin spokes to be honest.

Congrats on getting back into a Vette and that pewter one looks great. I had a pewter 2000 car for seven years and absolutely loved the car and color.

Best of luck with it and enjoy your drive time with the car.

I think that's my plan, just keep them!

I think the wheels will look really good with red calipers. Yep, another thing to do. ha!

I hear ya about the Florida heat (and humidity, of course), and here in Texas is not much better!

It's hard to beat red and black! I have had several red Vettes.

Yes, I definitely prefer the mag wheels on the pewter to the thin spoke chrome ones.

The 73 is my husband's baby. I had a 68 vert for 20 yrs but sold her about 3 yrs ago.
