Default Hello all!

Hi all, have been an active member in many other forums (mostly BMW) in the past and excited to get some information here as well! I have a 2004 C5 that has approx 5000 miles on it that hasn’t been started or driven since 2006. My plan is to have a flat bed drop it at a shop to change fluids, battery, spark plugs, tires and check for rodents etc. My question is what shop would be the best for this? I’m located in MA. Also, I’m wondering if it will be worth it to invest the money into restoring this vehicle or if I should sell as is. Would love to hear anyone’s 2 cents!

Welcome.

Depending on the condition of the car and how it was stored over that time will further determine your best course of action. If the car is in good shape, ie. no rodent damage, mold damage, or other issues associated with long term storage, the cost of replacing all the fluids, battery, seals, belts, spark plugs, tires, etc. really isn't that significant for a basically new Corvette with 5000 miles. If you're looking to resell it either way, you should be able to recoup the cost of getting the car running with your planned service repairs.

That’s what I was hoping for. It was my dad’s car and I’m not sure what my plans for it are yet. Would be nice to hold onto it and enjoy it but it may not be feasible.

Hopefully your shop knows what they are doing, You can't just change fluids and fire it up after 19 years of sitting.

I don’t have a shop yet. Will have to research and maybe get some recommendations from the members here. Thank you!

What EXACTLY do you have? Coupe, convertible or Z06? Manual or auto? What color? How mechanically inclined are you? For the price of a few hundred bucks and a long weekend you could perform an automotive revival yourself. Plenty of info on this forum and the internet/YouTube. Could be fun and rewarding to bring the car out of it's slumber.

only have seen the car in 2005 and I know it’s a coupe, auto, yellow ext with black interior. I would say I’m on the level of extreme novice when it comes to working on cars! Can change oil and filter. That is about it🤣.

Good luck - once you get the basics done (tires, fluids, etc.), you should have a better idea on what it is going to take to get the car back on the road. Go from there, taking into account your financial situation.

Thank you all for the warm welcome and suggestions. I will update sometime in Movember when I actually take possession and see what I’m working with!
