The stock one will work but the final look may not be to your liking. Since the shifter is shorter there is a little extra boot. I left the stock one in my car but, if I could purchase a short boot at a reasonable price I would change it out. But, it will function with the stock one just fine.

Could you trim the stock boot to kind of go with the hurst? Or would it look like crap?

Someone makes a replacement boot that is shorter, anyone have info on this? I just ordered a Hurst shifter and I might as well change out the boot.

Been there, done that. I have a Hurst Performance Shifter and I can say it is one of the best bolt on upgrade to a Z06. Positive shifts and just all around excellent quality.

I bought a shortie boot from Ken King's Vetteessentials.com. The OE shift boot doesn't even come close to the quality of his Ken's shortie boot. It really gives the shift console the right "bling" and very complementive of the shorter shifter.

And I went with a heavier than stock shift **** to lessen the vibration (noise) from the short shift. Went with a chrome ball style made by Kirban with etched shift pattern. Looks like the early muscle car shift ****. It screws right done to the Hurst and add another "bling" to the whole set-up.

Gaijin,

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Can you send some pictures, I'd like to see your set-up.

Thanks,
Jim

AND does it get hot? I love the all metal shift *****, but when I move back to the states, will it get too hot in a parking lot?

The stock one will work but will be all scrunched up. I bought the Ken King short boot and it looks and feels much better than the stock boot. Highly reccomend this for use with thge Hurst.

I went with the Delrin **** from Xtreme and it doesn't hold the heat or cold. Also, the Rat Boot from 'Vette Essentials is a perfect finishing touch.

I just installed the Hurst on my 2002. I used the OE boot and it looks fine. I don't like the driveline noise under hard acceleration. Anyone know how to fix it? Doesn't go away if I hold he ****. Gary

No, the car did not have this noise prior to the installation of the Hurst shifter. I have read that others have experience a similar noise. It's not bad but its there under acceleration. Any ideas?

Here's an after shot of my Hurst shifter install on my FRC. Used the stock boot (MOMO Combat Shift ****). No cutting, no nothing extra :D
