Default New C5Z Owner Intro Post/Build Thread

Hey Guys, I bought my car a little over a year ago from a member here, Roadrunnerfox. Super nice and honest, guy. It's a 2003, Torch Red with 12k miles on it. The only modification was a skip shift eliminator.

I was hesitant to buy red as I've never been a fan of red, but wow, it did not take long to win me over. The car had zero scratches, scrapes, rock chips on the nose, mirrors, nothing.

I got busy on it immediately, detailing the interior, cleaning it and doing a paint correction. All fluids were changed out.

Very quickly, I added the following for handling, looks and protection:
Strano front sway bar
Ridetech rear sway bar
Koni Sport Shocks
AMT camber kit & alignment
Apex VS-5RS wheels (18x11)
Bridgestone RE-71RS's (295/30 & 295/35)
Powerstop Z26 pads
Raybestos R300 rotors (Slotted w/black hats)
Window tint
PPF on the rocker panels and around/into the wheel wells

Next was what I do with all of my cars, adding a sound system and mine consists of the following:
Kenwood head unit in a Vette nuts bezel
Stereo Integrity tweeters in the a-pillars
Dynamtted doors
Stereo Integrity 8's (w/baffles) in the doors
Stereo Integrity 3.5's in the doors
JL Audio 10w3v2 sub
Partition style, sealed box, rear firing
JL Audio RD900/5 (70w on the tweeter/3.5", 70w on the 8's and 500w on the sub

I drove it like that all season (2500 miles and approximately 35 autocross runs) and it gave me no issues, so in October I added a BTR Stage 2 cam and Speed Engineering headers and X pipe. I did my own dyno runs before/after and it gained 50 rwhp and 42 rwtq and gained power and torque from the bottom to the top of the tach.

It's in a fun place atm, it's very responsive, but still hooks when it's warm on concrete in 1st and will hold 2nd everywhere. One thing that has become very apparant is, to a point, the more power we make, the faster we have to be going to use it. Ie, when full traction used to be available in 2nd is no longer viable and it moves to 3rd. I don't do full pulls, but love a 1 or 2 gear rip. Nobody ever went to jail for a wot blast in 2nd. I was able to mitigate a lot for this in the past by going to more and more aggressive drag radials, but I run 200 tw's on this car for the handling and SCCA Solo, so that's my limiting factor. The 200's are downright remarkable for what they are. No complaints.

Thanks for reading and to be continued!

Could you please post pic of tweeters, I’m about to redo stereo in my 01. Very strong baseline dyno BTW!

Was the speaker/amp setup in the door like that from the factory?

Good tweeter placement. Mine are nested within the other speakers, though I at least broke out the signals and filtered them.
