Does anyone know of a manufacturer that makes a 4 Piston rear caliper that is a direct replacement for the 1 piston stock caliper. Trying to upgrade my 04 Z06 for track use..Would like to keep stock rotor with parking brake. Upgraded front with Baer 6 piston
The DPC56 Wilwood rear caliper is a four pot radial mount part that uses 7616 pads. It fits only the stock style 1pc, 12" diameter rotor and is a direct replacement for you GM caliper.

How aggressive are you going to be on track? Is this an HPDE car or W2W racing? If the former than you may want to just follow the recommendations from the Spec Corvette folks. Since you did the Baers up front you might be fine with good quality rear rotors and race pads with stock calipers. Here's a screenshot from their rules:

This is simply a direct fit "Caliper Kit" for the stock 12" rotor. It's based on the SL line of calipers but with a lug mount body for the rear knuckle.
Is this the ideal solution to your track day needs? No way. The primary benefits are a larger, longer lasting pad. A tad more piston area perhaps but you're still using the stock 12" rotor.
Let's talk track day needs. You can't go wrong with MORE ROTOR.....not more pistons. More rotor. Front and rear. The math may not create a larger overall torque value since you'll always be limited by tire adhesion, BUT the large rotor creates more torque for less line pressure, in turn less clamp force and pad wear. And add to that a lower operating temp and greater fade resistance. You can work the crap out of a 12" rotor and clamp it for all its worth. Or you can run a 13 or even 14" rotor at 85% or less duty cycle and get the same results. Been a few years since I've been on the forum but nothing has changed: The SLC56 Caliper Kits are NOT competition products. Don't take shortcuts.
If you move to the SL rear kit (radial mt 140-14026) that's at least a step in the right direction as it REQUIRES the retro fit of 13" rotors. Same pads, same piston area, MORE ROTOR. Price is a tick higher due to the radial mount brackets. But the functionality is greater. Can we do better? Oh yes. Move to the larger 14" rotor kits. All depends on fit and budget.
I feel compelled to ask with an experienced vendor present.
I had test fit the C7 Z06 brakes to my car to prove it could be done on a C5, and in the exchange I got a free set of AP cp5060 fronts which I've adapted to the car. I can run affordable single piece DBA rotors or the two-piece ringsets from AP up front. I then scored brackets to mount cp9449s to the rear spaced specifically for C6 Z06 rear single piece discs. I later also found a solid price on new 9449s. I'm into the full system for about $3400. To me it seems like a much upgraded package which fits within an 18" C5 Z06 wheel package. Is it fairly matched front to rear though?
I have only limited understanding of brakes as they apply to track function.
My other car came with the Brembo GT system. How do these compare?

I'm not opposed to offering you an opinion here but I'm not what you're asking me to compare. The post covers a lot of ground so I'm not clear on what you're asking about. And to rightly do so you'd need to provide me some specifics to piston sizes and rotor sizes to be a detailed reply. If you're asking "how does Wilwood compare to XX? " that's fine too but in what manner? Same as a tire; you can't just randomly say one is better or worse than an other.
Mine has 13" rear rotors so I am looking at the 140-14026 kit. With them I can always increase to larger rotors down the road.
This formula applies only to the front Aero6 kit.
The 14026 kit fits only the stock 13" rotor. (short of custom parts) it won't fit anything larger or wider.
