Hypertech Max Energy Power Programmers

I wonder if they may blow out the EBCM.

"Extract every bit of energy possible from every molecule of fuel, increasing miles-per-gallon at part throttle and horsepower at wide-open throttle. Max Energy programmers are even Internet updateable with the included USB cable.
Additional features (depending on the vehicle application) include:
* Raise the top-speed limiter to match the speed rating of high performance tires
* Raise the engine's rpm limiter for increased performance
* Adjust individual automatic transmission shift points and shift firmness
* Recalibrate speedometer and odometer for non-stock tire sizes and/or gear ratio changes
* Lower the cooling fan on/off temperatures to match the thermostat rating
* Read and clear diagnostic trouble codes and turn off "check engine" lights
* Ability to adjust settings or go back to stock calibration at any time"

For 750ish dollars, you can get a custom tune that will be the best you can get for your exact car. These handhelds are generic in nature. Raising the redline/limiter is pointless if the valvetrain and such are not set up for the extended stress. At least with the Diablo, you can get someone like "DiabLew" to get you a modified tune based on data logs from your car, but a dyno tune is always the best..You will spend anywhere from 300-500 for the HHT and then additional fee to a guy like Lew to modify the tune, so why not just do it right the first time?

I just came across them while looking for IBCM information.

It’s not something I’m going to do real soon.
There are few things I need to do before the car is ready.
I have a cool air intake to finish, a set of new tires
and the possibility that the HARMONIC BALANCER needs to be replaced. According to this
guy LS engines are prone to have them go bad.
They can cause some serious damage if they fail. It’s hard to too see
if mine has much wobble, or any at all. I would need a shop to do the replacement.
That’s a job that’s way over my head.
This guy has a test that you can use to figure out if it needs one.

I'm just an old fart. Put a powerful engine in a sports car that handles well.
No safety measures, just the driver controlling the car with his own skill.
And I like to live on the edge. No helmet

IBCM goes bad 2 weeks later.
I wonder if all of the electronics can be removed, including the engine, drive train, every electronic, totally analog and the world is good. To hell with that stinkin IBCM. Would that cost a lot?
