Default Blackwing VS. Vararam

I've been hearing a lot of mixed reviews on these two intakes. They both claim to be "The Best", but wich one is really better? is one better than the other? When i say better i mean wich one is going to get me down the 1/4 mile track the fastest. If money is no object wich one do i get? thanks. :flag

you want the "ultimate" best? go with the vara ram...

times in my sig. and that was done at +1400 DA....

BFG DR's and Vara Ram. ONLY mod! I dont think a blackwing will give you that MPH!

This is easy. I have had both and I can tell you the filter on the vararam is a lot less restictive than the blackwing. I just got my car back with the vararam(not to mention heads and cam) and just think the idea of it has to work better since it takes in cooler outside air.

If you want to pay twice as much to see little or no gain, then you will want the Vararam. Do a search, you will see some see slight gains on paper some don't.

hey racer44 i was skeptic at first too and thought the vram was a piece of crap but after seeing how unrestrictive the filter is, it is the best choice out there. I would like to point out that the price for the vram is a rip though and i feel 300 or less would be fair for it. I gained 6rwhp with the blackwing and it was a pretty solid gain. I dont know the numbers with the vram since i had heads cam and gears done but 472.3rwhp through a full exhaust aint bad at all.

That is one of the lowest gains I have ever seen. Most guys are well into the double digits. We just dynoed one up here, with no tuning, it got 12 RWHP. That will go up with tuning. Just to go on record, I never said it was a piece of crap, it works as good as the other "Cold air intakes", in most cases. Now the Blackwing is not a cold air intake. But for twice the price, 94% of the people are not going to notice any gain between the two. You probably need a time slip.

I was not pleased with only 6rwhp but not too upset either cause it was $200 shipped and it was a gain almost throughout the entire curve. I do know that it's one of the lowest gains ever with the blackwing and im sure tuning would have helped.

I know you didnt say it was a piece of crap, thats what I thought and now that I own it I will still say it is cheap plastic and overpriced but works the best. If I may ask, why did you switch from the halltech unit?

My Halltech, (which I loved) was plumbed for dual stage Nitrous, I sold it all as one kit. My car goes in March 10th to join the 500+ RWHP club, and the Blackwing will be along for the ride! :D

There are many happy people with both.

The COLD AIR(VR being one of them) kits will out perform the non cold air kits.:) Their manufacturers will tell you that, and have, in print on-line.:)

Here is a recent article on the V/R:

If money is no object, why mess around with any air cleaner? :yesnod:
