Default Leather Separating

Has anyone had any trouble where the driver's side outboard seat bolster stitching started to separate from the leather. Mine has and I have an appointment with my local Chevy dealership to have it replaced under warranty. The scary part is that they will be driving it to a shop that specializes in this type of repair. Should I be concerned? I will definitely check my mileage when I drop off the car.

The seat of the car has to come out anyway, so IMHO, I would insist that they take the seat out of the car at the dealership, and take just the seat to the upholstery shop. There's no reason for them to drive the whole car there and leave for that shop to do heaven only knows what in.

Mine is doing the exact same thing in the exact spot. The dealer said to call a day or two ahead before bringing it in and they would have a guy there at the dealership fix it, but I have to leave it for the day.

FIY - this is not leather - but some sort of vinyl material.

The material on my 99 sport seats was cheaper than dirt and fell apart at 20K. I thought that it can't be any cheaper untill I've got the 03.
I'm now saving money for a decent mid america or Ken interior.

Pleather???
The seats in my Audi are imitation leather ... a pretty convincing fake too. Unless I tell people they're fake, nobody knows.

They don't smell like leather though, and my Z06 sure as hell does. Are you certain?

I think so - at least for the bolsters. On my 99 - the bolsters were made from leather - and they got worn out very quickly. So they replaced it with 01 bolsters made from vinyl - these didn't last any either - plus the threat started separating.

My seat is coming apart on the rear, around the lever behind the headrest. The vette's seem to have the cheapest leather in the auto business. I would try to insist on an entire new seat under warrantee.

I picked up my car on Tuesday PM and the repair was not 100% perfect. They restitched the seam but some of the thread's spacing is off making it look like someone did it in a hurry. If it begins to come apart again I am going in insist on a brand new seat.

if its the rear of the seat its all vinyl and no real leather....the only part of the seat that is leather is the parts that touch you while sitting in the seat a great upholstry shop can fix it no problem...... i feel if you get a new cover the color might not match perfectly...(i have mod red seats)
