Me again! With the information you guys provided, looks like I'm gonna band the sensors to the custom wheels. But one last question...something I would rather do if possible...
I read that Z06's dont come with TP sensors...therefore no warnings on the DIC. Owners can have them installed and the system activated by the procedure in the link below: http://www.techvelocity.com/gtp/RPO.htm
If this is the procedure to enable the TP system...then can disabling the system be just as easy? Has anyone tried it? The dealership techs tell me it is not possible, I even called 6 different dealers in my area. If not, then I'm gonna have to band the sensors as a last resort.
if GM can turn off the option for the Z06's, then it stands to reason that you ~should~ be able to turn them off. I put them on my Z06, and cannot fathom why anybody would not want to have them installed, whatever it takes. I know my friend just bought a new tire because his went flat and it got ruined. If he had had the sensors, then he would have only needed to get it repaired vs buying a new tire...
Best thing GM should have done is put a spare tire in the car. I'm thinking of getting one custom made and putting an "aftermarket" spare tire kit in the car. The C5, as you know, comes stock with the run-flats and tire pressure sensors. So idea being if you get a flat tire, you see a warning on the DIC, drive on it, get it repaired. Now since the Z06 is a suped up C5, gotta have those wider rims and tires. Z06 comes stock with the F1 Supercars. They throw in a flat tire kit with that Fix-a-flat in a can stuff. You put it on your valve, spray it in, and some gooey stuff sprays everywhere on the inside of your wheel/tire, plugging up the leak. Reason for no sensors is that this goo would plug up the hole in the sensor...so GM thought ok...leave em out.
Sensors can be bought at your dealer, and the TP system can be activated (see above link). The sensors for the headlights are already there...just need to be activated. The automatic lights come activated (stock) in a C5...dont know why not in the Z06.
- Any negative effects on the tires to installing the sensors?
- Any negative effects on the DIC to turning these features "on"?
- Where do you get a TECH2?
Very interested to see if anyone has done this on a z06 and if they are happy - or not - with the mods.

Re: Yet Another TP Sensor Question... (ivox)
Your local dealer has a Tech2. They are super expensive to purchase.
FWIW, I personally have no desire for these two options on my car. My daily driver has the auto headlamp option and I never use it. Sometimes automation just isn't necessary. I'm fully capable of turning the lights on myself and checking my tire pressure only takes a few seconds. :jester
tire pressure sensors were never installed cause the tire inflator kit would destory them. however, they can be turned on, just don't use your tire infaltor otherwise you will have to buy a new sensor. as for daytime running lights, they will not work on american Z06's, due to the fact they are missing the ambient light sensor. i tried and discovered after much debugging and research that the sensor was not there. which resulted in the headlights always remaining open.

Where would the sensor be, and why can't you just add it?
Re: Yet Another TP Sensor Question... (Highroller)
the sensor goes in the dash, could you add i don't know. i would imagine the harness is there to plug into. i gave up cause i figured by the time i add the sensor hooked it up. with labor and price of sensor cause i figure the dash would have to come out it wasn't worth it to me.
