Not bad about 2k below dealer invoice. Check it out well first and try to get more off. I would pay 38 for it, no more.

I guarantee the dealer paid no more than ~35 for it wholesale.

I am sure $38,000 won't fly in this case. About $40,000 does sound a lot better. :)

GMS plan by the way. (Dealer Cost)

Not everyone can get a car for dealer cost, so why post as if everyone should be able to get the deal you got just does not make any sense. Others stating it is only worth $38 are high. Maybe in their mind the car is only worth that much, but even in this lousy market the car can bring more than that. There is so much crap on this forum about how cheap people have paid for their Z's is no wonder others are buying into it. A would think a fair price to pay would be around $40. I believe everyone that has posted a response to your original post is at the end of the spectrum. They paid at the low end of the scale and I am sure their are others that went to the other extreme as well. If the car appeals to you, do the best you can on the price.

What I paid is not crap so why don't you unlight your flameing fingers and either give good advice or shut up about other people who are trying to be helpful. Smartmouthing others is no way to earn respect or to make your self respected.

I saw 02 Z's at large dealer auction did not even bring $38 or $39K. But these had more miles, would need tires soon, looked a little too used for my taste. On the other hand the Z I posted about has less than 1,000 miles and is probabely perfect. So is it worth $42K ?? Well, maybe. I can get new for another $6-$10K more, and right away lose that much in real value. I like to look at all the angles. I might wait and see what they introduce at Bowling Green at the upcoming event. Please people no fighting over this. Any supporting dealers want to chime in here ?? :)

I think 42k is pretty good for a basically a like new, mint condition 02 with only 1k miles. Go pick it up, you won't regret it. :flag

Simply put we only hear about people that paid under the going value for their Z's, not the people who paid anything more. Then when people post their cars for sale on this forum, others who have read this info. think that is what ALL Z's are going for and start low balling the seller. That is rude and puts a negative light on seller's. I think you and others should of stated that you were not the norm and were lucky to get the deal that you did. I would love to hear how many others were fortunate enough to pay the price you did. I am sure their are many, many more that paid more than you did and you were simply at the low end of the pricing spectrum. That is great for you and my intention was not to directly slam anyone, but to get a clearer perspective on the pricing of these cars. You will always find that one guy that sold his 02 low mileage Z for $36, but what about the remaining people that sold their Z for $39-$42?

The most important question is whether this is the color combo you are seeking. If this is what you will enjoy, go for it. I would offer some less, negotiate tough, use the comments from the Forum, but would be ready to pay if it's what I want.

Check out to make sure, no accidents, no paint work, talk with the previous owner. You would be buying a great car in a super color.

Today, a question to factor in is whether you will be financing and if so whether you would qualify for the 0%. If so, then contact our Supporting Dealers, get a discount, do the deal. If not, it seems you would be buying virtually a new Z06 for substantially less than what others are paying for 03's unles they have factory supported discounts available to them.Your decision is all that matters.

Others can give you their opinions, but if this is what you will enjoy, do it!

I would like a supporting dealer or two to chime in here. Within 50 miles of here I have seen 3 yellow Z's, new ones at $ 53,000. They are not easy to work with on lower price. It's zero % and sticker. I would never pay sticker. I look at the value going down as I drive away. O.K. maybe stubborn, :yesnod:, what are Kerbecks or Maxie Price doing on price now? Anyone? :(

It's definitely a buyers market in this area. I'm not sure what the supporting dealers are doing right now as I haven't been pricing new ones for almost a year. In today's paper here in Atlanta, a non supporting dealer was advertising a "mgr special" on new 03 for $43,xxx. Sounds like great deals are out there for anyone willing to look and make phone calls.......

$42K is a good deal for an '02 with 1,000 miles. I just paid $42K for my '02 at the beginning of March with 3,000 miles on it.

And guess what? That is wholesale if it is at an auction. Those dudes are going to turn around and slap a 43k price tag on it

That is a very good point. I have never really thought of it that way. I bought mine about 6 months ago with 2500 miles on it for 41k. And I had to endure all of the ".....you shoulda just paid another 6 grand and got a new one...." BS. Just so I can drive it off the lot and it be worth 42k?????!!!!! 6 grand is a lot of cash.

Try to get the seller down. And if this is absolutely the color combo you want, go get that sumbiatch. You will not regret it.

I would like the new 50 emblem on an 03 but to pay the high difference and lose a very real $6- $8K by driving it off the lot ??? I know all the arguments both ways. I did not drive the 02 yet but I know the seller. It will be sweet i'm sure. Thanks for the different view points. :chevy :)

The emblems are ~$20 each...so...if that's all you want....FWIW, I got $6K off of sticker, but also only got 3.9% financing for 60 mos.....I got GM Supplier pricing...
