Great for all C5's!

Told him I was from the forum and he gave me a discount, total including shipping was just at $55.

No way! I installed mine over a month ago (all four corners, but not the mirrors yet). No problems. They look good and I have had no problem with them comming off. I don't race, but the car has been into triple digits since the install. No problems. Just take your time putting them on.

I used them all last year and only lost a piece or two, 80 mph in driving rain was probably not the brightest thing to do. I just replaced my set this year and have actually gotten pretty good at putting them on. My set from last year were so beat up that I decided to replace them. Can't imagine what the paint would have looked like based on the condition of the Cleartastic

Don't be disappointed with your first application, it takes a couple of times to get the hang of it.

Oh, I almost forgot. I put them on with a 50/50 of Zaino Z6 and distilled water. This is after putting on the normal Zaino coats.

I am on the edge about doing it.... I know it really protects the car, but it seems like they all say, if it is your first attempt, they will come out like crap... What do you think???

3m is supposed to make a better product. I had them on for a 2500 mile trip. By the time I got home all but one were gone. I look at them as expendable. The one piece strips behind the doors stayed on the best. The three piece front and rears leave alot to be desired. The mirrors were so many pieces I just sent back. I may be picky but to me they are very noticable :skep:

I put 6,000 miles on my car last summer, and only lost the two pieces. This was 80 mph in HARD rain for over three hours (long story). If they come off in regular driving, then likely they were not correctly installed. Like I stated above, the first time is a learning experience, but now I can slap them on in under an hour and they can hardly be noticed, and I have a Mag Red car which is dark. First time I put them on, it was too cold and they didn't come out too good. Yes, up close you can see them. But trade that off for the marks I had in them after last summer and it is well worth the trade. Besides, you can pull them off and put them on again if you like. I even had one piece that had dings in it for about four inches where something skidded down the car. Can't imagine what the paint would have looked like without it, those skips would be in the paint and the car was brand new.

End of season, I removed and zainoed. Car looked like it came from the showroom. I would like to see headlight covers :yesnod:

(see his 1st comment . I believe he is referring to us not having front nose protection)

I am on the edge about doing it.... I know it really protects the car, but it seems like they all say, if it is your first attempt, they will come out like crap... What do you think???
No one has ever said or is saying their first attempt looks bad. What some refer to is since our product is unique and because some of our kits are multi piece kits, it sometimes takes a little time to apply right. But all agree (like Vettnuts) that once you have applied it ,the next time is much easier. The beauty is since there is no glue you have the option to simply just peel it off and re apply it.

3m is supposed to make a better product. I had them on for a 2500 mile trip. By the time I got home all but one were gone. I look at them as expendable. The 3m product is not better, it’s just different.
It's really a matter of choice. We created our product for the person who does not want to permanently glue something to there paint/vehicle. This is even a bigger hit with the NCRS guys and gals.
Once applied they are practically invisable

Speed is not a problem.
We have wind tested at 160 mph in dry and in wet conditions. We have received mail and feed back from customers (like C5 FAST HANDS post above  ) who exceed into the triple digits with our product.
Some used our product and ran many sessions at Willow Springs (Cal.) for a total of 2 to 2 1/4 hours on the track, at speeds to 125 in the straights.
1 1/2 hours on the track at Buttonwillow at speeds over 100+

If you do a search on this forum you will find many who have exceeded the miles and the speed of your trip.

It seems you did not apply them correctly
You can apply the kit in cool weather but based on the time you installed our kit (Jan/Feb) it seems it might have been installed way below the temperature we recommend in the instructions (65) which would be indicative to your previous comments about trouble with air bubbles & tight contours (in another thread) and applying with a hair dryer.

I contacted you about this before you went on your trip but you never responded. Feel free to contact me now.

End of season, I removed and zainoed. Car looked like it came from the showroom. I would like to see headlight covers :yesnod:
As for the headlight covers…I’m on it :D

Thanks

I've been toying with getting the Clartastic, but I would like to hear from someone who has them on a Black vette. How noticeable

Thanks

The 3M material is by far better! The 3M material[Scotchcal] is the material that is placed on propellers to protect from rock chips. This material has been used exclusively since the Vietnam War days on all air Force , Navy, and Army aircraft. No aircraft uses Cleartastic. Different companies sell the real McCoy[3M] such as X-Pel, Cleartastic, Ultrashield and Stongard.

that is the most rediculous response yet to the use of Cleartastec!! first of all the 3m or any other glued on object of a plane doesn't have to come off in order to wash or wax. second, most aircraft leading edges an props are aluminm with a titanium prop leading edge. therefore any protective coating isn't necessary. there is no plastic film that is going to protect an aircrafts surcace when traveling 200 plus mph. However if you prefer to GLUE anything on the PAINT of your Vette be my guest. I have used Cleartastics for over a year now and after learning to take my time during application, I haven't lost one piece, have taken first place in shows, and definately have seen the results on other cars from not using this protection. maybe this product isn't for everyone but it is for those of us that want the glue free protection that it affords us. If you take your car to the dealer for detailing or to the carwash for cleaning then it probably isn't for you. however if you take pride in your BABY and have some mechanical ability and patience then for the $55. try it. if you don't like it what are you out??? throw it away and buy the glue on product and then worry what you'll do when you want to remove it. By the way I don't work for Cleartastic I only use the product and from experience feel that before you knock it try taking the time and installing it properly and then post your opinons about it . thats my 2 cents. wcj

Yes, that is another advantage. Got a wax line, peel it back a smidge, clean and re-apply. My biggest mistake on my first application was having my Golden Retreiver with me. I had several large hairs under the Cleartastic when done. Anyone who has a Golden will definitely understand
