Re: Z06 vs. C5 (Trick)
I have a Z and a 98 coupe A4... the Z is alot more aggressive from 50-100... not sure the 98 could hang with it.. but Im not a 140 type person... just know the feeling up to around 120....

Re: Z06 vs. C5 (QUIKAG)
Anyway, get him in this thread and maybe we could run again for comparison's sake.
I don't want to be responsible for you guys getting hurt or busted on the street. Drive safely on the street and square off with him at the track.
A friend of mine on this forum (FincommII) has an 02 Z with just TPIS headers, Halltech T1-C airbox, and a ported TB. All else is stock including the PCM program. I've watched him click off 12.0s @ 119 MPH @ ETown on street tires with good weather and a 2.1 60' time. He even did an 11.9 in really cold weather once. His car seems to run stronger than mine and his times are the mark I usually shoot for at the Corvette Challenges. My only changes are the airbox and some small PCM programming changes.

Those numbers seem realistic, definitely on the good side. I'm really fighting a losing battle here because mods equal, a Z06 will slaughter a Coupe/Vert. That is very obvious. My only hope on the roadcourse, street, strip, autox, etc. is that they don't have any mods or very minimal mods like an airbox AND most importantly, that I'm the better driver. Otherwise, I'm screwed. :D
Stock vs Stock? Watch the video that came with the car - GM tells you point blank that the Z06 is the FASTEST model they have "ever produced". Yes - this includes all C5 models and the ZR1.

Re: Z06 vs. C5 (Trick)
The Z06 is faster for sure but I ran a '02 Z06 from about 60 up to 110 and the Z wasn't pulling me very hard. He had maybe a little more than a bumper on me. Just ask Johnno.
Oops my bad -- this thread was only regarding stock vettes. However, not talking about modded cars in this thread is like not letting the bloody knife into the court room.
Heh, you must be new to Corvettes quikag. When ZR-1 people talk about the "king" they are refering to the "King of the Hill" aka the 15 world records holding top speed monster known as the ZR-1.

And Elvis is still the king of rock and roll.
:iagree:
You gotta show some respect when it comes to the ZR-1. A friend of mine pulled a 12.3 time slip out of his 93ruby red with 55k miles on it...it's a bone stock car.
We parked next to each other with both hoods open and I was embarrassed...The LT-5 still makes my mouth drool...
I would NOT mess with one on the street, The LT-5 IMHO, is the best motor chevy ever made...what the hell am I talking about, GM didn't even make the motor!..
BTW, Elvis may be King but Daddy's little girl is starting to make a name for herself...love those hips! :D

If you're still confused about who the King is, I can clear it up for you in less than 11 seconds!! :seeya :smash: Come packing superchargers, turbos and nitrous - you'll need it! I'll be naturally aspirated. :D
Lets talk about what's really important, When the ZR1 was out it was the undisputed "King Of The Hill". I think that most :chevy corvette enthusiasts would be more than :D to see the C6 Z06 reclaim that North American Glory , keep the damn brushed aluminum interior doodads , give us a New King of the Hill :smash:

Guys the LT-5 is Top of the hill, no doubt, but The C5-R motors are definitely making a name for themselves. These motors have made us modern day die hards very proud.
From my perspective, it's nice to see the evolution. Makes you wonder what GM will do with the C6 generation.
