I heard something about automatic headlights, where can i get 'em. My dad drained the battery the first week we had it because he forgot to turn them off :smash:
If you can get your hands on a Tech 2 GM scan tool you can do it. However, some cars have the ambient light sensor and some do not. I found out the hard way when I had mine enabled. No big deal, I turned the feature off in the DIC until I go pick up my $10 sensor from my local GM guy this week.
I plan to do the same and am curious to know if the Z06 wiring harness has a place for the sensor to "plug-in". Do you know? If not we will have to run a couple short leads down to the BCM and plug in there...not impossible, but a hassle.

The harness should be there from what I have been told. But might be tucked under and taped down to the dash. I will find out when I go to plug mine in.

Re: Automatic Headlights (yaro1)
I can't believe you guys want this totally useless feature. I have it on my daily driver and it never works the way you think it should. I never use the feature.
This feature does not belong on a Z06. If you can't remember to turn off the lights when you leave the car (with the car beeping at you) then you should not be driving it.

It's a gadget! Plus it is a hidden feature of the car that GM put in there for us to find. Kind of like hacks in computer games, you just have to find them.

I've got the feature on 3 of my cars( Caddy 03 Tahoe 03 Blazer )works flawlessly I like the fact that it turns the lights on, not as much worried about turning them off, as far as I'm concerned it's a cheap no weight mod, just one more thing to make my Z06 different, sort of like your heavier that stock chrome wheels
Thanks Neal B for your helpful, positive input and the tip on where to find the harness plug. I have non-pop-up HID headlights that are useful even in the twilight hours Racer44 complained about. Part of the reason I want to do the mod is because I don't have it, I want it, and I can do it.....and because GM deprived me of that option and to keep the lights on for a few minutes after I leave the car in dark parking lights.
Rbartick needs to take a happy pill. If s/he can't see the usefullness and convenience of the feature, fine s/he doesn't have to use it. Frankly, given the simplicity of the feature, IMHO it could be easily and cheaply offered all current production cars.
There are some, perhaps including Rbartick, that think a Z06 should not have a radio, air conditioner, or even a passenger seat. But I do. I like power AND luxury. And given the number of other Z06 owners who choose to purchase these options, it appears there are a number of people who agree.
Rbartick, you are entitled to your opinion, but there is no need to be nasty and mean to those with differing opinions, even if they are in the majority.
Going into somebody's legitimate thread and telling them you think they're stupid is beyond offensive. If you can't be helpful, be gone.

Well I went over to my local dealer during lunch and had them re-do the program, it works like a charm, contrary to some of the posts I've read if you go to option 4 you can shut it off you don't need a resistor or anything else. It did go on when I put the car back in the garage and went off 1 minute later all by itself (you can program the delay)

First off, I never knew you had non popup lights, I like the twighlight sentinal feature, just not on a vette with pop-up lights as I explained in the other thread. and if you do not want to make an appointment to see a GM tech and pay about $50-$100 for their time, a reistor and ten minutes works for me. Glad it all worked out for you. Myself, I am so glad that I was able to disable it.
Does it raise and lower the lights for you? Or do you need to leave them up all the time or get a non-pop-up headlight kit?

Everything is automatic, at dusk they pop up turn on and when you shut off the car after a preset time they lower and shut off

I didn't intend to call anyone stupid. I just feel that turning the lights on & off myself is much better than having a light sensor do it. I should have kept my opinion quiet and I apologize for my previous post.
BTW - I do not have "heavier than stock chrome wheels". My wheels are stock.
My 1999 Camaro and 2001 Expedition both has this feature which I think is great. They have to ability to turn of if neccesary. I would have though that this should really be a no brainer for the Z06.
