A C5 -vs TTRX7 in relatively stock form on a road course..and it'd be interesting.

The C5s I dont have a -lot- of trouble with in my FD3, but eh Z06s consistently kick my butt.

But..thats why I also own an 03 Z06. :)

If it's a bone stock 3rd gen, you're probably gonna win unless you make a drivers error. However, if it's modded, look out because you never know what to expect. A buddy of mine will spank me every day of the week in my 03' Z06, with him in his 87' TII RX7, and he'll still keep up even if I tossed a magna on the Z. I've talked to another kid whos 3rd Gen RX7 would walk through the quarter mile not too much slower then the LPE427TT :eek: . I love RX7's, and I hope to own a 3rd Gen in the future, but in stock form they're relatively tame. Just my .02

Grim is right....I have a friend that had a 450rwhp beast of an RX7....You cant tell from outside that its tweaked....Ive seen him embarrass alot of cars..A few C5's, and M5, beatdown a 993tt Porsche to name a few....Anyone would be a fool to underestimate a japanese supercar....

Anything with a turbo and weights less than 2800lbs is gonna be a natural born killer....If he is stock however you WILL tear him a new butt....They trap around 14.1-13.8 @ 99-101mph stock...Everyone knows what a Vette/Z06 is capable of...If hes talking poopie, hes got something under hood...

 

How is it that on supercar lists, drag racing seems the be the -only- sactioned form of comparing cars?

I dont drag, rarely ever will. Is it just me..am I the odd one?

Just a matter of what you like. Me, I will never do anything except drag race. It's the only kind of racing out there for me. I've also been around it since the day I've been born too. Just what everyone prefers, no one is the odd one. :cool:

 

You are right we/they should sanction track results...then we can compare our c5's to miatas :lol:

 

needhlp, I'm not sure what you meant by that post but miatas do not run with C5s on the track. I have been open tracking for quite a few years and I have run tracks from Texas World Speedway to Mid-Ohio and everywhere in between and Miatas do not run with C5's.

I suppose what bugs me the most, is the 'big *****' comparison of this car -vs- that car in really simplistic and sometimes insanely stupid ways.

My Z06 will beat my RX7-TT, which will beat my Celica AWD/Turbo (probly), which will beat my Toyota MR-S, which will beat my Jeep Gr. Cherokee (probly) around a road course.

But, then again a Z06 isnt an RX7-TT, which isnt a Celica GT-4, which isnt an MR-S, which isnt a Jeep.

But only a true automotive enthusiast would understand that.

I have a warm-fuzzy for all the C5 owners who can whup a stock RX7-TT down the 1/4 mile, but upgrade yourselves to open tracking..and you'll find yourself wondering whats wrong with your car..because "so and so on xforum.com said I should beat this *** crap".

Take it in good humor guys..im not angry at anyone..just enjoy your car because its yours..nobody elses is WORSE than yours..because its -thier- car. They also dont own the right to judge YOUR car either.

If ya feel so inclined..make friends with the guy, invite and BUY him a track day..kick his butt..get your butt kicked, hand each other obligatory passes while trying to look like you didnt want him to..then share many beers.

Everyones a winner.

No two cars are built against the same sets of priorities, so why bother comparing them?
