If I were to install SLP Loudmouths, is it necessary to have an X-Pipe installed or not? If I were to install one, will it decrease the sound(loudness)? Reason why I ask because I am looking for the loudest exhaust for a 2001 Z. I would appreciate any feedback on this. :grouphug:
An X pipe is not neccesary for the SLP cat back exhaust.
The addition of an X pipe will mellow out the sound of the exhaust. It may not make a significant difference in the sound level as it will the tone. X pipes tend to mellow out the tone of the exhaust pulses and reduce back pressure.
The X-pipe is a performance upgrade - This will help when adding headers - Heads/Cam or SC or NO2. It shouldn't affect the sound, but will allow better flow. You want it as loud as possible? Whatever for? I want mine to sound stealth, but rip up the pavement! :)
