I dont post here much, but my dad and I have a bit of an issue on our new 03' Z06. After the engine warming up (getting to normall operating temp) there is a good bit of heat that comes from the footwell of both the driver & passenger sides under the dash...you can feel it on your legs, and it almost gets to the point of where you will start sweating...
Is this normall for these cars? Are other people expieriencing heat under the dash on their legs? If not, what should we check out of why there would be heat under there?
Alright, thanks for letting us know (it's our first vette that we have owned)...
But could I have a little more information about these heat barriers (where to buy them, what they actually are, hard to install?) those kinda things...
Most of the major vette suppliers carry it, Ecklers, Corvette America, Mid America. It is a space age material about 1/8 to 1/4 inch thich it goes under the carpets, you never see it and can not visually tell it is there. It reflects about 80% of the heat back to the outside. Install is simple, pull up the carpets, cut and put the material in, put the carpet back. I use dit in my 84 on the entire under carpet area and will be putting it in the wifes 74 when I get around to the interior. As for the Z06, I can live with it so far, but if the heat gets to be a pain I will put it in to. More questions email me al.mckechnie@aquila.net
