Default Speed Bleeder Size

I tried to install Speed Bleeders on my 2003 ZO6 this weekend.
They sent me M10x1.0, which were visibly shorter that the stock bleeders.
The front ones worked fine but the rear ones would not seal when closed.
The right rear would ooze brake fluid very slowly.
The left rear would briskly flow fluid.
I had to put the originals back in.
What size is correct for the 2003?

They should be the SB1010 or SB1010S part #.

Have had a few guys that had leaking with new ones. They will replace them of course. Still a PITA!

I think the m10X1.0 is the SB1010.
I tried rotating several m10x1.0 in the left rear and they all leaked, so it is not just 1 unit that was bad.
Also, it is not leaking because the ball valve is defective. It does not seem to screw in far enough for the needle valve to seat.
It is my suspicion (though I cannot actually prove it) that the SB1010 is just barely long enough for the needle to engage the seat. So if the machining of the caliper is just a little less deep then the Speed Bleeder is not quite long enough to completely close.

I put 4 steel SB1010 last month on my Z06 and my Z28 with no problems.
The SB1010S is the shorter one as you can tell from their picture.

Your are right -- they sent me the SB1010S.
I contacted SpeedBleeder and they are sending the SB1010 to try.
Thanks.

No problem.

I just received 4 speed bleeders today, and they shipped me the SB1010S, after I asked for the SB1010. :mad

Speedbleeder.com is a joke! How can they stay in business? I knew that I was going to have my brakes flushed with the tech 2 this week to add new fluid. I wanted to add speedbleeders at the same time, so I tried to contact speedbleeder nearly 2 weeks ago. I contacted them by email first and they never responded. I then tried to call them and they didn't pick up the phone for 2 days. I even left messages and no return calls. I finally get a hold of someone a week ago Monday to place my order. I figure that since they are about 50 miles from me, the speedbleeder's should only take a day or so to get to me. Wrong! I call last night and get someone and they told me that they would call me up and let me know what's up with my order. No call back last night. I wait for todays mail and I get nothing, so I call them back and the guy says that he has my bleeders right there and that he can ship them out today. I told him that it isn't going to do me any good at this point, so I just want to cancel my order. He says ok.. Kind of short with me and we hang up. WTF!? How can someone do business this way and expect to stay in business? I wish that they'd let their patent go and sell it to someone that knows something about business. It would make my life easier trying to find these damn things in stock somewhere.

BTW.. The 1010 is the correct part number. The 1010S ("S" stands for short) is too short for our calipers. Someone on the Z06vette.com forum had thought that the "S" stood for stainless steel, which they also sell now, but this isn't the case.

Now if I could just find the bleeder screws in stock locally, so I can have them installed on my car tomorrow. :mad

Did you have luck with the SB1010 part number fitting?

Or is SB1010S correct?
