I am in Wisconsin now and this is the second vette I have had here (only during the warm months). I haven't put the front plate on any of my vette's since I have been here and the gracious men (and women) in blue just look and let it go. I agree with you on the front plate requirement that it's :bs . The only thing most people see when I drive is the back of the car anyway.
I've lived in NY and CT and never had a front plate on my car in either state, even though they are required. Never been stopped or given a citation for not having it....even when being pulled over for speeding????
I got pulled over by the state patrol the day I drove my car home from the dealer. :banghead: :mad
The cops in my area seem to be looking for cars driving with no front license plate. I have actually had cops pull up along side of me far enough to see if I have a front plate and then slow down and get behind me and follow me for a few miles. :bs
Good luck, hope you don't get pulled over for no front plate.
Texas issues a front license plate. However, my Corvette was purchased in another state (KY) and moved into Texas. It did not come with a front license plate holder. To my knowledge, there is no law requiring modification of the vehicle to accept a front plate. I never thought about it much.
This is something that I need to look into and learn more about. Thanks for raising the issue in this forum.
Got a ticket in CA yesterday. The cop was traveling the opposite direction and turned around to chase me down and give me my no front plate ticket. Heres his description: :troll
Illinois enjoys the front plate rule - but I have to this point avoided putting it on (knocking on wood).
I saw one cool setup that employed a clear cover similar to the factory "plug", but this was painted body color INSIDE the cover, and it had a rectangular "peep window" left slear so as to show the plate's numbers - very cool -

YES! I was brainstorming with my old neighbor and my friends dad, and we were trying to think if we could find a plexi-made front cover and we would do exactly what you described. I haven't seen anyone do this before, and was wondering if anyone knew were to get a clear front plate cover? I'm gussing you need to get it custom made (grumble).
And Highroller: I paid the ticket straight up for 75 dollars. Yep, same exact price if I was speeding, doing a burnout, etc. It is insane.
I too used to ignore the front plate law when I lived in WA. I got a couple of tickets over the 30+ years I drove "illegally". Finally I JUST MOVED! I love AZ! -HarleyB
I keep my plate all bent up and twisted in the back of the car. I got pulled over, showed it to the nice police officer. He told me to order a new one, but didn't write me a ticket..
