Whats up with this
The corvette hasnt been getting any love lately imo. My bro just got a CLK500 and everyone thinks that the CLK can out handle the Z. I mean, the CLK is a very nice car, but it cant possibly out handle the corvette. I am so tired of the people saying how the Z would get smoked and outhandled by the mercedez in handling. There is no love for the corvette.

There is a lot of stupidity in the world, let alone ignorance. When someone say's something like this I smile and say "looking forward to seeing you at Road Atlanta" and that usually ends the discussion.
Don't get me wrong, the CLK500 is a fine machine, but no match in any category for the Z06. Now make it an E55 (AMG) and things get closer, but the Z still wins.

A MB (any MB) will never out handle a Z, or any C5 corvette.
I owned a 2002 CLK55 AMG with a Kleemann Super Charger and Kleemann Speed Sensitive suspension. (I tired to improve the handling and performance of the car).
There is no way a Mercedes Benz will even come close to a Corvette in performance
It's a misconception. Just look at the tire sizes. There's not enough width to hold the car in the corners. And you cannot put larger tires on. Well not large enough to make a difference.
Remember there is nothing that can beat a Corvette in handling and performance right off the show room floor.

mb is also lowering the quality of their cars. so that isn't helping. they are losing so much money through chrysler, that they are cutting back on the quality of the mbs.

I just sold my Mercedes to buy my ZO6. I once thought Mercedes was the ultimate, until I kept getting spanked by BMW's. Mercedes has serious quality issues since the Chrysler acqusition. I have driven a CLK 55 AMG and was not all that impressed. I would imagine a stock Corvette Coupe would out handle a CLK 500 any day of the week. I bet your friends car payment is beyond any ZO6 payment. :party:
