Default z06 brake problem

Running hot laps on Road America a 4.1 mile, 14 turn road track in Wisconsin.Three long straights allow speeds in excess of 140mph all straights end in turns of 90 degrees or better. To minimize lap times threshold braking is used. The 2002 Z06 exhibited brake wear as follows: left rear pads gone,ie calipher on rotor metal to metal, right rear pads burned almost gone, both fronts pads half gone still very usable. At the start of the 2 day event all pads were 3/4 or better of original thickness. Total laps run, approx. 100, in the 2 days. Expected the front brakes to do 60% of the work thereby needing replacement much sooner then the rear . Spoken to alot of people on this subject most are puzzled over the rears going 1st. Has anyone experienced this?? Need some help here! Thanks

Bet you were running in " Comp Mode" and driving pretty hard. The same thing happened to me at Buttonwillow in California, a fast track with a need to slow in a hurry. :steering:

gbecton is probably correct :iagree: If you were pushing it to the limits the AH was doing a lot of compensating (brakeing) on the rear wheels and heating up the brakes.
Try running with it off to see if you can control the car the same way with the same lap times.

Sound like its a BLAST!!!! :D

Yes, The AH was very active!!! Do you have matched tires? is the rear a softer compound?

Same story here-when running in Comp mode rear brakes do a whole lot more work. The stickier the tires the more work the AH has to do.
