When I purchased my 02', it did not have the the tire pump kit, (nothing). I guess the original owner keep it. Is it ok (while I'm waiting for my kit) to use "Fix-a-Flat" in an emergency?
in an extreme emergency....even the pump kit is pretty much useless, the stuff just makes such a mess if it comes out of the tire, not to mention it throws off the balance of the tire so try to avoid using any of that stuff....
But when you’re somewhere, and there's nothing or nobody in site, try any sealer if the hole is not too big. About "I'm Guessing" 90% of the time it is a small road hazard that gets your tire. Been off roading many times when two or three cans fixed a big tire so we could get back to the road and home.
I don't think I'm even going to use the GM kit and just use spare tire in a can and a tire patch kit. I'll just carry several of them as it is less weight than the GM kit.
I've had one flat. In the parking lot I located a nail in my rear tire. I carry pliers, C5Fredrik jack, tire plug kit. I jacked it up a little, pulled the nail, put in a plug and was ready to go. Did use the OEM air pump though.
Good Luck :seeya
I had a flat on a 02. The kit did not work. I replaced the sealer to keep the car original. I would use fix-a-flat or something like that. The GM goop makes a real mess in the wheel, on the tire and on the underbody and still does not work.
I have plugged several tires with a NAPA plug gun and kit. Once the tire is heated even Goodyear can't find it.
The tire repair gun and plugs do not have a part number. It is made by Balkamp. It is called "Magicure Vulcanizing Plug Kit" It comes with 3/8" and 7/16" plugs. It is manufactured in Indianapolis. I will go to NAPA and see if I can get a part number for you. It says on the box "Vulcanizing plugs chemically vulcanize throughout the injury, becoming a permanent part of the tire". When the Goodyear engineers can't find it I say it has become a part of the tire.
I cannot honestly tell you you cannot find it in a street tire. I will assure you you cannot find it in a race tire once it is heated. Goodyear threatened to stop my sponsorship many years ago when the found crew members using it. The problem at a race track is when you scuff a set of tires and one of them has a punciture you fix the punciture or throw the set away. If the race association won't let you back on the track, and they won't, you are screwed. Goodyear forced us to stop doing it but we never had a race failure.
OK Guys, the kit has a NAPA part number of 710-1028. That is for the complete kit. It is called a "Balkamp" I don't know what that means but it is the best tire repair for a puncture I have ever seen. It will not work for a cut or sidewall problem. Good luck.

I called the local Napa over here, and 710-1028 is a good number. The kit is $96.59 but that's retail. It may not be available on-line.
Believe me guys, if you have a puncture it is well worth it. I keep it in my Z06 all the time. I am not sure how well it would work in freezing temperatures.

I'm in. Where my kid works they plug tires all the time, $15.00 a shot, no receipt. That's how they buy lunch. LOL
Pep Boys also sells a pump and fix-a-flat bottle kit. I saw one today, but didn't stop to get the price. I'm sure it is way less that GM or NAPA at $96. I don't think you'll feel the extra weight of the kit, but I would also recommend that you get a tire plug kit and try it first. So far I've been lucky and not used either.
