Is there an isolating partition that installs between the passenger seats and the trunk? If so, is it an after market accessory or something that Chevy offers? I test drove my first Z06 today and I liked everything except the noise coming from the trunk area. I don't expect it to be as quite as a normal passenger car but it is quite a bit louder than my 1995 coupe. Any suggestions or advise is appreciated. Thanks in advance.
I bought one from a fellow forum member that makes them. I believe the cost was $75. If I remember correctly his forum name is Not Red Rob. The partitions do cut a lot of noise in the cabin and keeps stuff from flying to the rear of the car. Highly recemmended.
I purchased, installed, and am very happy with the partition I purchased from West Coast Corvette. It installs very easily.
The result is a much nicer appearing vehicle, with a divider between the passenger compartment and the trunk. Also, the partition cuts the rumble that is present from the exhaust in a Z06. I can now clearly hear my Boise sound system.
This is a great addition. I would also like to recommend that you consider covers for the three holes in the trunk. West Coast Corvette also sells these covers. With them in place and the partition in the car you will find the trunk much more useful.
First of all it is going to be significantly louder than your 1995 Vette. That's the nature of the beast especially under full throttle.
I got mine from Exit 28 Motorsports. It took all of 2 minutes to install and is terrific. Cuts down on exhaust noise, improves a/c and Bose. Color is slightly off from factory color but is not really noticable or an issue. Very well made.
Do a search for Partitions. Been talked about tons of times. Everyone agrees GM dropped the ball on this. They could have offered a partition as an option. Even the stereo should have been an option if weight was that much of a big deal. I think they forgot most people that buy the Z06 drive it on the streets.

:D I bought mine from Eckler's for $99 smoleys and received many compliements. Cuts the road noise so I can actually listen to the radio and I love the Z06 emblem. Best of all it installs in 5 seconds. (compression fit) You don't have to alter the car in anyway. They're one of the sponsors here. Oh, it's part # 43845.
I luv it.
Just finished making my own last week as many on here have.
It does quiet the noise some.
If you are concerned about adding weight to the car, check first. Some of these partitions weigh 12#. Mine weighs 1 1/2#.

MIne came with one, bought the car pre-owned. The partition is just slightly off color though. West Coast Corvette sell them one the internet, I think it retail for about 279.00
Good Luck..it really stop things from flying forward when braking. :chevy

I borrowed a partition from a friend (Piranha) and traced it onto a piece of
1 1/2" thick polystyrene I bought from Home Depot. Bought the glue there also.
Carpet came from Pep Boys for $10. Home Depot also had a nice black carpet for $7.50.
The carpet is a little darker than stock but the nap is the same.
Total cost was around $20. Total time about 8 hours to make.
I made my own to save weight not to save money. It was not much fun to make as I had trouble getting the adhesive to set up properly.
There are some people on this forum who will send you the template.

Are these partitions easy to swap in and out as desired? For example, if I went to the track, I would probably want to take it out for weight reasons (plus I like the extra noise in these situations!). My only worry would be that after taking it in and out a few dozen times, it may not fit as snuggly anymore. Any thoughts?

Go to "How-To" section at... http://www.fixedroofcoupe.com/
for a template in an autocad file. Instead of wood, I made mine like "corvette dave" (see above for materials list.) It is interference fit so comes out easily.
Hey Shylor and z06chick, you better be careful about voicing any opinion other than the one dictated to you by savewave and the rest of the group here.
I mentioned that "other guy" and promptly received several brow-beating emails from savewave explaining how bad a person I was and I didn't adhere to their little code. So anyway, good luck with the 4th reich..... :lolg:
