Re: Turbo vs. Z06 - The Long and Short of it! (theblackvette)
I strongly disagree with this statement made on that website:
The Porsche is the best sports car in the world.
Am I in the minority here??????
I would not say you are in the minority here... but this post has been between 2 very good sports cars.. to each his own.. lets change it a bit.... lets compare the forthcoming GT 40...... Not to mention my favorite and i would snubb you all for an Enzo in my garage.... the best "sports car" package? any V12 Ferrari at 9000 RPM through titanium exhaust on the autobahn would get my vote.... in my opinion ferrari is the ultimate in "sports car" because they ARE a race car with some conveiniences and amenities for joe public. My opinion is that Porsche is a very good car.... they are making money hand over fist because of all the yuppies wanting a name.... I drive a Porsche.... well to me they are not worth wasting money on.. IF you want to drive it you will loose almost half of what you paid for it by putting 10k miles on it in the first 2 years.. when i took a 25K hit for 4800 miles.... you can keep the POS it wasn't THAT fun to drive... and the chicks you pick up are good for a few blow jobs before sending them back to the shallow waters they came from.. Porsche sprots cars are for those who want "european" roots without the added expense of a dancing horse.. side by side would i take a 996TT or a 360? i'm in the 360.. but this is only me.. the new GT Carerra or a Saleen S7? S7 please... its not just a money thing... its what gets YOUR heart pumping thing!!!! i can remember wanting a Countach so bad it hurt as a kid.. that is why Porshce, ferrari, Mercedes, and any number of other exotics are still in business... for guys like US!! lets end the thread by saying "we will see you on the track" it not about money, and really it isn't about a moniker.... its about that childhood dream that through hard work you have made possible!!! i know ALL of you givene the level of success a 7 figure bank account brings would not have just a Z06 in your stable..... if so then your not a true car nut..

If I had a 7 figure bank account just for cars, I would have about 25 cars in my stable (most of them classic muscle cars and sports cars). Not 1 Enzo.

I would want a good 10 figure account to consider the enzo... i was alluding to the ridiculousness that this post is still alive.. "that given the money we would all have a tt and more in the stable". if nothing else to say been there done that. i still prefer car "x"
i would also be after the classic market but the 67 L88 vette i want would just about buy you an enzo... but an 87 GNX, 69 GTO judge, 70 LS6 Chevelle, 70 Hemi cuda, 64 Royal Bob Cat GTO, 69 Yenko Nova, 69 Yenko Camaro, 69 Yenko Chevelle.... and my wad is spent!! LOL and there are many many more i would love to have....
Re: Turbo vs. Z06 - The Long and Short of it! (Chicago ZO6)
I am getting a Porsche because I have always wanted one. As a matter of fact, it was that very desire for a 911 Turbo that started my path to where I am today. I never grew up dreaming of owning a Vette. As a matter of fact I was never really interested in Vettes until the C5 came out. They are now in my blood so I am sure I will always have a Vette but I am not narrow minded enough to isolate myself. Yes there are other awsome sports cars out there and I plan to enjoy all of them in one way or another.
if i had the coin id get the modena for less thean the gt2. the ferrari will outhandle the porche and the vette for that matter
Not so you'd notice. Go look up a magazine article named "Sibling Rivalry" from three or so years ago. A Modena just barely (about a second and a half) outlapped a 2001 Z06. Same track, same professional driver. The Z06 was *faster* than a 550 Maranello. The driver said that the Maranello's weight and transient response were against it, even with the HP advantage.
That article caused a LOT of pain and anguish in the Ferrari world.
Trouble with Porsches is, there are so many different engines on that same 911 body style that it's hard to tell when you've found one of the 'fast' ones...:D
Re: Turbo vs. Z06 - The Long and Short of it! (Ryan Bell)
if i had the cash i would love to own a 911TT, BUT i have one small problem with them. i have a 30k 00 vette with 5k in mods and i run mid 11's ez. i have ran 130k 911's, 85k vipers,AND a couple of bmw's amd merc benz and spanked them all...............corvette is the best bang for the buck... :yesnod:
