[Z06] PCM 1431 Right Fuel Sender Code

Anyone else get this?
I get everything you describe except no codes. Usually happens when I am under 1/4 tank, gauge works normally only after I fill it up. Next time I will search for a code.
I am told that this is a common problem in C5's, but admit I haven't researched it like I need to.

For me, switching from convenience store gas to a name brand (Phillips 66 in my case) has stopped the problem completely ... haven't had an occurence in several thousand miles.
GM has blamed high-sulfur fuel, stating that it chemically interacts with silver in the fuel sender. There's a TSB calling for a reflash of the computer (apparently they've changed the detection algorithm). Being a lazy sort of guy, I'd try a) changing fuels for a couple of tanks to see if that helps, b) failing that, get the reflash, c) failing that, service department for a new fuel sender or jet pump.

3 weeks ago I ran my car out of gas....no *RESERVE FUEL*, no *LOW FUEL*....gage needle was just approaching the orange zone....so why would I think it's empty?! :cuss Did the gas can walk to get it started, filled it, gage went to full. Then it went to 3/4, then full, then 1/4...and remained totally erratic, right to the point where it was showing 1/4 tank and stumbling on fumes as I took it to the dealer a week later. I ran it as low as I could (too damn close!) so there would be no problems in pulling the tanks, if required.
Code 1431, of course. Dealer replaced right side sender and now it's perfect....gage is fine, low fuel warning are there, etc.
Anyway, I guess my point is that the needle didn't default to zero, which would at least cause a guy to pull into a station pronto and fill up. And then, when you only get 10 gallons in a 'dead empty' tank, you know sumptin's up!!
