I just learned of the competitive driving feature the Z06 has! OMG!!!!!!!!
It is amazing! Does anyone else know about this? Is this some sort of secret? I didn't see it in the manual and the dealer never told me about it!
All i can say is "WOW"
You gotta be kidding me...
btw - the video is on the internet in mpegs see http://www.z06vette.com./media.php (scroll down the page a little--it is for the 2002 Z06--i don't think it has changed much) :seeya
My father owned his Z06 for nearly 8 months before realizing his car had this feature. It was only after I drove it the first time (without him in it ofcourse) that he figured it out ...................... cause I told him. You learn a lot by just sitting in the car and pressing all the different buttons - lol.
Now everytime I am driving it - its is on.

Re: Competitive Driving Feature!!!!!!!! (Gonzo)
All it is.....it shuts off the traction control as far as straight ahead wheel spin.If the car starts to get sideways though, the computer applies the brakes to the wheel(s) that's causing the sideways move to help straighten the car. It seems that some people think it gives the car extra power.... :flag
Next you will be telling me you don't know how to activate the Electrochromatic mirrors!
I had to tell my dealer about the Competition Mode, he was soooo happy! You could imagine him telling all the other sales persons and then using it for all the future potential sales. I should be on commission.......
Look Reading the manual is obviously not an option, I'm a guy. Now please someone fess up what the heck is it???? :cuss :cuss :skep: :skep: :smash:
Hold the active handling button down for 5 seconds. It will enter competitive driving mode which is a mode where traction control is disabled, but active handling is on. I use this mode for the street, just because...
I turn EVERYTHING off for the track because active handling and traction control definitely get in my way. :D

Hi Dr.Ron -
:iagree: - Some folks do think that the competitive driving mode gives the car "special powers" - one very well informed couple that I know that own several vettes thought that the suspension actually stiffened up to allow better cornering abilities.. :lolg: .
Competitive driving mode only turns the traction control OFF - leaving the active handling ON.
yeah i bought a 2001 and this feature was not widely known about at that time. and only found out cause the museum twists your arm and makes you watch the video. another reason to have museum delivery if this is your first vette... :yesnod:

In another thread on this website, some are saying that the '04's do not come with a video. Apparently a cost-cutting measure. The manual addresses the competitive mode however. I believe it is in section 4, pages 20 or 21. Essentially, it is a mode inbetween traction control/active handling on and off. It turns off traction control in the rear wheels but leaves the active handling feature on. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe you have to enable this setting, by holding the control button on the console down for 5 seconds, each time you start the car. Apparently the memory does not hold this setting in and it must be reset each time you start the car.
