I have seen this message come up a couple of times on the display indicator. Nothing seems to be wrong with the car at all. Should I be concerned? It only happened maybe twice. I usually look at the display when I turn on the car, force of habit! Thanks!
This message is of concern to me. Although I only have seen it twice it can't be a good thing. It only happened on start up! I am really puzzled to what this means.
I have only had the problem happen twice myself, and it was after the car had sat for a few weeks then I started it up. I have not had it happen since, and my battery volts are normal. How ever I am upgrading to a Red Top Optima, and I am curious to see if the car sits for the same period of time, if it will give the same message with the new battery.
You are right, at least that is what I believe. But if the car hesitates on you and you get that message still I would take it and have the battery and alternator checked.
Just got off the phone with the dealer! They told me to bring it in. They told me about a solonoid that some might be defective. They said it is an unservicable part and would need replacement. It is under warranty and will cost no $$$$ to replace.

Re: Charge System Fault?????????? (theblackvette)
I sometimes get this when first starting if my car sits unused for a few weeks. I checked it out in the shop manual and if I remember correctly the code is set when the PCM detects lower than normal voltage for a specific amount of time. If you are getting this on a daily driver then I would check things out.

This is exactly what I am doing! I am going later today and they will check it out. I also inquired about mods. He was telling me about adjusting some "Throttle" thing. Do you know what this is all about? He said I would notice a big difference in performance!

Re: Charge System Fault?????????? (Michael Joslyn)
I also get this same brief message. It's totally random, and my car is a daily driver. It does not set a code on the DIC, so I figure it's just a very transient condition that corrects itself once the engine fires.
But I would like to know more about this loose cable, too.
Re: Charge System Fault?????????? (Michael Joslyn)
I will get a more specific answer this week from the dealer that tightened the cable.
I don't know much about the engine and how it works I just know how to drive the car.
However, any of you engine experts may be able to figure this out. First the dealer tested the battery. When that revealed nothing he put the vehicle up on the lift. I saw him tighten some cable from under the car towards the front of the car. He said he was able to "turn it one and a half more times" to tighten the cable. As for exactly what this cable was, I will have to find out, but you experts may already know what this is.
I got my 'charge system fault' message last week. No noticeable problems, no changes to start up, idle, etc. The only other message that I received was 'have a wild ride'......OK, I'm just kidding on the last one. :)
The dealer told me that if the DIC is reading charge system fault, there IS indeed a fault in the system at that given time. The voltage may be enough to start the car, but he said it was important to check out the car and make a note of it now!
Since the tightened cable-i have not seen any of these messages! I think there is a screw loose in many Z06's that are getting these messages!
