Default Z06 wheel question....

I bought a Z06 last week (my first ever Corvette) and the wheels appear to be chrome in color, but on most of the pics I see of these cars, the wheels are aluminum. Is there an option for chrome wheels? I love them but according to my sticker I have aluminum wheels. Did I get lucky, I didn't pay for them?
The Z06 is an 03.

Chrome wheels are not an option. They are all aftermarket. The only thing close is the polished wheels on the 2004 Z16 Z06 CE.

Default Polished??

Then maybe they are just polished?
Either way, I was not charged but I can assume they are not standard?
Did I get ripped off? Do I go back and ask for the factory wheels?

if that is a NEW like no miles previously untitled car...then yup...those are WRONG. If it was a used car.....then I would say you got what you got!

Looks like aftermarket chrome from the photo. You can check to see if they're reproduction or OEM wheels by looking at the stampings on the backside of the spokes. Many of the repros are quite a bit heavier than stock wheels.

Congrats on the new ride!

Hi CYA-Vett -

Look at the rear of the wheels - a factory 03 Z should have come equipped with the spin-cast Speedline wheels - and there is a casting mark the indicates speedline if you have factory chromed wheels.

You can either have the fatory rims chromed or you can buy aftermarket chromies - the oem chromed being the more deisreable IMO.

best regards -

Some friends of mine have two sets of Factory wheels that they bought from GM Chromed. One set races, the other drives daily.

I personally think the chromies are much better looking and really enhance the look of the car - It was like night and day - so I would not be upset - as long as they blanance up good I would feel like I got an upgrade.

I definetly like the chrome better, I'll check today for that factor stamp on the back of the wheels. It great to be a Corvette owner! One problem though....what do I do with the "Vett-Etr" license plate I had on my Grand National? Yes I came over from the darkside, forgive me.
