[Z06] Z06 Tires...Replacement Recommendations
OK, now my Z06 only has 800 miles but I feel the factory tires will not last too long with my happy right foot so I wanna start saving to replace the expensive supercar tires.
What kind of tires are you guys using as replacements?
Which last the longest, give the best ride, etc...
P.S. Any warranty friendly first mod recommendations.....
Thanks,
Dave

i hace the pilot sports and while they are great in wet weather, i am not happy with the performace in dry conditions trying to pick up traction....i would not buy them again....
i wouldnt go with the f1s or the supercars either...have had both and wasn't happy with either....
next time i'll prob go with either the bridgestone potenzas or the kuhmo's.....a buddy has the kuhmo's and loves them.....

I have the BFG g-Force KD's. Expensive but worth it.
I love them and plan to get the same when replacements are due.
Wet traction does not exist however I only drive mine on nice days so this is a non issue.

I think Goodyear produces some of the worst "performance tires" known to man. They just suck.
Except the F1 Supercars. Even I have to admit that this is a great tire. And that's what I would put on the car again. The combo just WORKS...why mess with it?
I too am a big fan of the BFG KD's and Michelin Pilot SX (MXX3) - same tire - but I think the F1s are just as good.

The Supercars are ok suprisingly coming from goodyear. I think the Nitto 555 R2's may be the best from what Ive heard and read but I have never tried them personally. I may get them all around when the supercars get bald, 275's up front and 305's out back.

I have the Kumho's on the rear now and they are almost as stick as the F1 SC tires but are much better in the rain. I am about the put the Kumho on the front as well. If it wasn't for the water issue with the F1's I would put them back on in a hearbeat. But, I drive in the rain too often.

I don't think Bridgestone makes a rear Z06 sized tire. Its a shame, because I would probably try the S0-3's if they did.
I had 80 miles on my z when I changed over to bfg kd's....they wont work in the rain though. When I really wanna have fun...I strap on my bfg drag radials.......... :smash: Wash

How are they in comparison to the F1's IYO?
My Z's a daily driver, and my track for drag racing's about 90 minutes away, so Drag Radial's are out of the question. So my best bet is the stickiest road tire out there.
Just my 2 cents....but I didn't like the F1 supercar tires either..I am now running Pirelli P Zero Russo's...low profile, 19 inch all around, they hold the road great in dry and wet conditions...took a turn yesterday at 60mph getting onto an interstate and my cofee didn't even spill.....

I have Kumho Ecsta MX on my street wheels for the few times I actually drive on the street. I have also used them on the track in wet conditions. Great tire for the price.
275/40-17 front and stock size rear.
I really did like the Goodyear F1 SC in the dry and on the track, but they are scary in heavy water. If you are looking for a well balanced all around tire, the Kumho Ecsta MX is a good choice.

I have to agree with the likes of evil. I knew right away that the Michelin Pilot Sports did not have the dry grip that the Goodyear Supercars had. I immediately bought another set of Goodyears. Expensive mistake!

I have 6,000 miles in all kinds of conditions. They rock!

I am in the same boat as CYA-Vette, except that I have 26,000 miles plus on the original tires. Some of you say that the OEM's are great on dry pavement and suck in the wet, and other say the Pilot Sports are good in the rain, but not as good in the dry. All this probably true.
Guys there is compromise here. There is no tire that is probably great in the rain and dry. The more surface area the better in the dry, and the more channeling grooves the better in the wet. More channeling grooves = less surface area. That is why Formula 1 cars use different tires for different conditions
In my opinion the the OEM tires are great in the wet, but bad in standing water. As long as isn't raining hard they are fine. I drive mostly in the dry or damp, so I am thinking more about replacing with the Goodyears, but I am by no means solid on that decision. I doubt if any of you would say you drive more in standing water than dry, or damp.
I am just thinking out loud. What do you think?
