Shifting/Throttle Techniques
Looking for thoughts on the best shifting/throttle techniques for launches and 1/4 mile flies. I've heard and seen some crazy stuff, and I just pulled a 3rd to 2nd at 6 grand tonight. Luckily, I realized it immediately and only had let the clutch out about 20%-no damage.
Also, I've discovered that my clutch does not like to be "dumped" at WOT-I get freakin' wheel hop. A slightly slower, more easy shift is nice and smooth.
Anybody out there "powershift"? I've seen guys do this by simply keeping the throttle pegged and using the clutch as normal. This is weak, as they are shifting early or bouncing the rev limiter every time. I've heard that true power shifting is with NO clutch. Anyone tried it? I've also heard that it is safe to downshift with no clutch, but not upshift.
