Default 01 or 02 - Need Help

Hello all I am wondering other than the extra 20HP more the 02 offers why else should I buy it. Cant I just stick one or two mods on an 01 and have it right there w/ the 02's HP and save a lot more money on the price of a 01 and use that money for mods instead. I need help.
What are standard features on the 01 and what are the options???
Will be buying a Z06 in the next 2-3 months, used to have a 99coupe

When I picked up my '03 Z there were only 4 options you could purchase, and I don't think it would of change from '01.

The options were:
1) BSM's
2) Electrochromic mirrors
3) Memory package
4) Front plate frame.

Everything else is standard. And by the way fog lights aren't even an option. Not sure the price difference between the two, so I don't know if it'll be worth it, but it is real nice to say, "It's got over 400 horses STOCK!"

I can't remember, but I think that the AH/TC saw an upgrade. I just can't remember which year though. Hopefully someone will chime in with the answer.

Hello C5fvr.

I am sure you will get various opinions on this question.

I went for the 2001 Z06, which leaves plenty of money for mods :D

As I understand it, the HUD was an option on the 2001, and standard on the rest of the Z06 model years. ALso, there was suspension work and brake work that was done to the 02 and later model years. Other than that, I think the 2001 had the forged wheels, where as the rest have the cast wheels.

I could have bought a 2001 in mint condition, but it didnt have the HUD, and that was a deal braker for me. I really wanted the HUD, so I got the 2004 :)

Thanks for the feedback, I guess I'll just have to wait and see what's out there when I"m looking and go with either 01 or 02

The HUD really makes a difference, besides it gives you something to look at other than your DIC.

The HUD was unavailable with the 01 Z06. Significant changes were made in 2002. Read this:
