I just changed the oil/filter on my Z06 it has 5000 miles on it. Seems like I read something somewhere that stated you should changed the oil every 15000 miles or once a year so that's what I did. 15000 seems like a lot of miles on oil, but that is what chevy says you can do with these cars, I normally would changed synthetic oil about every 8000 miles. That's my plan. Oh, one other thing if you are going to change it yourself you may want to order some lifting pads, I bought mine from Corvette Central for $59.00 plus $10.00 for shipping, they are the aluminum type and work very nicely. Wow, you are just a bundle of joy aren't you. Have you ever posted anything to try and be helpful here, or are you just the type of :troll that sits up in the bleachers and mades rude remarks to others attempts to be helpful?

Life is too short to waste bandwidth on a  person like you. Go change your oil, if you know how, maybe that will give you a better outlook on life.

Les

PS: For the rest of you who are here to learn and help and want to read more than you ever wanted to know about oils and filtering I suggest you visit http://theoildrop.server101.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php

Hi Skygod -

There is no consensus.

I change the oil in any new vehicle I buy at 500 miles. I then do 3 to 5k depending - if I am on a trip I do not change it out right at 3k.

There are many who will tell you "It's a waste of money" or something similar.

You can buy a big dog feeder that allows you to dump 40 lbs of food in it and it then dispenses food to your pet as necessary for a month. However, isn't the point of having a dog the interaction?

Isn't playing with the Z06, changing the oil, washing the wheels and all the other maintenance things you can do, the real point of owning one?

Yes, you CAN change your oil at 15k miles, and you might be safe.

Like Chris Rock says, "You can drive your car with your feet if you want to, but that doesn't mean it's to be done."

I hope this helped...  :smash:

best regards -

mqqn

Good point! I'm going to change my oil every day! :hurray: Wheeeee!

Seriously... you can change your oil as often as you want, whether you need to or not, but damn you sure are making a lot of used oil and dirty oil filters that have to be disposed of.
